He's soon to be 31. I'd rather go younger on the FAs unless we're getting a vet QB.

 

Not suggesting the Steelers go after him... but Za'Darius Smith is probably getting released from GB.

 

Honestly on the Oline...IMO...they need some good players with real experience....even if You get great players in the draft ....our whole line is way young....so I'm for getting some of our OL in Free agency.

 

Totally agree. We have plenty of young players that will be getting PT on the OL. Moore, Dotson, Green, Leglue, Hassenauer. We need good vets. If we can land Jensen or another center and a quality OT, then our OL gets significantly better (assuming some sort of incline in play from Moore and the other young guys). Then we can focus on drafting defensive players (namely CB and ILB) and rounding out the rest of the team with quality cheaper signings. The team gets better even without the picks in this scenario, but even more so if we hit on the draft picks.

Bengals are also interested. I see him going there before us given the team they have.

 

Bottom line though is which franchise is more likely to win a championship in current situations and considering the Bengals were just in that game with a solidified quarterback...

And of course there's money. Despite the cap space they have, the Steelers are likely to lose out because guys now expect more $$$ up front which the Steelers rarely do.

 

The Bengals only finished half a game ahead of the Steelers, after 6 losing seasons.
I think they need a second strong season before "championship pedigree" matters.

Having more cap space making a difference, on the other hand, I completely agree with.

 

But with the QB reset situation with the Steelers, all bets are off as to how good we will be from here on out.

 

Which is why it's likely that neither the Steelers or Bengals nab him. He's gonna get top dollar from a team that will overpay.
