I agree, but just pointing it out. I also believe there is so many good Wrs in this year's draft that not all will be drafted, and a lot will be UFAs. Those will also be cheaper.

We have a lot more needs than draft picks.

My D in L just told me the Pat's are not tagging Jackson. Tomlin likes his Maryland guys, just think he is going to cost a bundle.

Jackson is 26 and CB is a major need. If we kept our own (Spoon, Adams, extend someone, etc) and signed Jackson that would be a pretty good FA period. I'd still like to do more though, like adding an OL.

Yeeeahh paying 16+ mill for a CB will be a tough thing to do, but it's a major need for us. Especially in the AFC.

Witherspoon and JC outside with Cam/Haden in the slot?

Haven't heard anything about it. I'd imagine it depends on his position flexibility and money. He said last year that he wasn't interested in being a slot corner.

I doubt they would even be interested in Jackson with his asking price, the Steelers don't give out those big signing bonuses like other teams do.

He's a top free agent CB, I assume his asking price will be 17-20 million a year, the Steelers aren't paying that type of money for an outside free agent.

Haden will test the market. Steelers will see what he is offered and say yes or no regarding matching. That’s the MO. Ditto JuJu.

As Cam Heyward just said, you have to be able to stop the run, ILB is badly needed for Steelers to be competitive. Something has to be done at this position this year.

They also need Alalu and Tuitt to play, guys like Buggs and Mondeaux played too many snaps last season, but they do need help at the ILB position.

Getting Alualu and Tuitt back would greatly improve the run defense, but it still doesn't work without help at inside linebacker. Bush has to get better and they need somebody in place of Schobert, who is almost certainly going to be cut.

Interesting indeed... and something to monitor for certain. I suppose Mike Brown could possibly be back to his old shenanigan's again; not surprising to say the least. Either he is tagged or they let him go.

Either way, a huge blow for them if they do not keep him. That said though, if they do let Bates III go.. this is actually the draft to target a Free Safety as there are more of those than there are Strong ones.... sans Kyle of course. If anything, Jaquan Brisker and Daxton Hill would be two contestants to consider if I am a Bengals Fan; more so on Brisker.

He is a do everything safety at less the cost; ball hawking skills to boot. Worth a First Round Pick in my opinion.

I personally would not mind him. In addition, both Tomlin and Colbert were on hand at Wake Forest's 2018 Pro Day to see him; familiarity being a hallmark of some of these FA Signings. However, I just do not see it happening.

Bates is likely wanting to reset the market...and I cannot blame him. Have to cash in as quickly as you can and Bates III can do that fairly easily. A top 10 Safety at worst; Bates' skillset will create quite the bidding war should he test the market as teams need that multi role safety who can play the Single High but work in the box.

I imagine he is going to be a hell of a lot more expensive than Hilton was for the Bengals.

Expect the Bengals to tag him; work out a deal for later. Not surprised to say the least in all honesty as that was the best plan for them; much to Bates' frustration I am sure. I would have to see a Safety duo of Minkah and Bates but not likely to appear nor happen.

Was a big Jesse Bates fan coming out of college. Would love it if the Steelers bring him here. He’s been a good player for Cincy.
