Good cap space as far as the Steelers normally go, but compared to the league we're still just middle of the pack. Not sure if I want two big upgrades or to spread it around to four or five risk/reward players. I hope OL gets one ready-made, above average lineman and either inside LB or CB. go OL, DL, CB or QB in RD 1. I like Davis/DL UGA if OL gets picked apart. I would love to get the UK OG in round two if he slides to there. He was the one UK lineman that readily handled UGAs best in that game.

Minkah and DJ are on the agenda to get contracts this off-season if we want to keep them from becoming UFAs next year. We certainly can’t have both hit free agency at the same time and only be able to tag one of them. An extension for Minkah may actually have a 2022 cap savings. DJ is cheap this year, so we would likely need to add 2022 cap dollars to extend him this year.

I feel 95% certain that we at least try to extend Minkah this summer, and I think it’s better than 50/50 that we try to extend DJ this summer as well.

Some free agents on my radar:
    Morgan Moses, RT
Mitchell Trubisky, bridge QB, small chance of being more than a bridge
    Jordan Whitehead, SS
    Bradley Bozeman, C

Nah. Year 1 is usually not a big chunk because most of the year 1 cash is bonus money that’s spread out.

Thats without making any moves. They can get up to about 65 million in cap space.

That only helps if the other teams are unable to make similar moves.

Michael still has a point, that the extra cap space isn't dominating compared to other teams in the league.
The Browns have just as much cap space, despite spending $23M more for their top 51.
(They have less dead money, and they rolled over extra salary cap from their previous bad years.)

Doesn’t matter what anyone else has, they aren’t going to be in a bidding war with every team over every player they are interested in.

Steelers have a ton of cap space if they want it which they have never had before. They will be in a position to address the holes on the line if they want or whatever other position they want to focus on.

They are in a good place.

I hope they get a couple of noticeable upgrades. Target the worst performing positions in 2021 and plug that hole in the dam.
I always thought it'd be best if we get right with the cap every 5 or 6 years, like stop pushing dead money into future and keep growing it. That said, I suppose some teams with massive cap space find a need to spend it, offer up silly-bad contracts, get middling upgrades and shot their own feet. Maybe it's best to never have a lot of cap space to avoid having to throw it around to anyone that will take it. Larry Brown-mania avoided?

Does Christian Kirk or DJ Chark move the needle for anyone? I would like to have either one of these guys...Not top of the list FA's...But a couple of guys I think would be in our price range, and also help us...

I don't see why. IMO there is so much of this talent in the draft this year that is way cheaper...not counting guys that won't even be drafted because of how much there is.

I understand but, you can't get everything in the Draft...imo we need OL,DL, ILB,WR, CB, and QB...Can't get everything just in the Draft
