The list I was looking at had him still listed as a FA, thanks.

I would be in favor of a S or CB pick up in FA but a WR isn't a dire need to win now. They still have plenty of offensive weapons.

Don't get me wrong, I think its a big blow losing Bryant, and Coates and Green will need to fill the void but I dont think anyone in FA would be any better then what we have and is affordable. If they think the WR position needs to be addressed, I'd much rather a draft pick.

According to Rays weekly chat, its a weak FA class for WR anyway but I haven't even peeked to see who is available.

No worries about our offense. People are not taking into account the growth we will see of Wheaton and Coates. We will be fine.

Yeah I agree but I also feel we need to look at a guy on the cheap. I mean we lost both Bryant and Miller, and we are replacing them with Green and Coates. Not saying that don't work what I am saying is I feel a vet would help that void, jmo.

I started just looking at WR's and so far the little I looked I like Allison and Mckins, thoughts?

Yes we are taking that into account, what we have to look at is we are asking Coates to take a big step. As a win now team I feel a vet presence could be like a safety net if he don't take that step. See what I am getting at, I hope were are fine but I want to make sure we are fine. I am not comfortable with DHB as the safety net, jmo. I do like the fact that Green and JJ will help with that void in the redzone, that is one area that worries me. You never can have enoughweapons, imo.

They drafted Coates just for this reason and then they went and got Green as well because they knew of the Bryant situation before we did.

I'm not familiar with the guys you listed but I'd rather role with Coates, I think he has the tools to be a good one. They also have JJ which you mentioned that I forgot about in my previous reply. And they extended DHB for 3 years too.

I don't see them signing any FA receiver but you never know.

I by all means want to roll with Coates but I just feel like we need another. Before if AB, Wheaton or Bryant went down we had Coates as a back up plan, who is out back up plan to Coates now? I am not happy with DHB in that roll, I am fine with him as a roll player but I want a guy who can step in and be a #3 guy. I am not sure what is in the draft and there isn't much left in FA that could fill that roll. I know we have talked Wallace and that is a good option if he was willing with the $$ and the roll he would be in. Do we check out Colston or Randle or just draft one, you make a good point we are pretty good at finding young guys...............

Man we are on the wrong side of things today! Get away from me with Wallace :lollmao:

Don't forget about Wheaton, had a nice 200 yard performance in one game last year when his number was called to step up.

Exactly. Which is why I have no worries. If this had to happen, it happened at the one position we had a surplus. Adding a vet WR is not a priority to me. We can do that after the second wave of free agency starts after the draft.

I would prefer a draft pick at WR too, but if they did bring anyone in on a vet minimum deal, I'd be OK with Anquan Boldin. Dude catches everything and love his leadership/fire. The FA list is very underwhelming at the position.

LMAO, yeah you will have that, wouldn't be fun if we agreed 100% on everything......people would talk, lol. All I am saying is I am good with AB, Wheaton and Coates I just want more of a sure thing in case of injury or Coates don't step up. What I mean is if we were to find a vet who is looking for one last run, kinda like turtle pointed out a Boldin kind of a guy to make sure we are set.

Did I say WR is priority...no I am talking about making sure we get another weapon, not because we need one but to make sure we have one if and/or when we do. What if we get an injury god forbid then our strength becomes just average at best. We drafted Coates to protect us in case of what I am talking about now all I am saying is I want a vet to come in for a little security and I want one cheap...........

Some very good info I will say I just started looking at wr so I am not up on them guys. The only 2 that caught my eye were Allison and the kid from Washington Mckelvin or something like that. The thing that worried me as far as the DT article is not a lot of names that a lot of us have been talking about. I am wondering if Jones and the kid for miss. are going to be off our board now...... Nice post Turtle, thanks

My Chip Kelly love fest ended when he left my Ducks, but I'll be damned if he didn't hit the nail on the head with this comment.... (Keeping in mind the 9ers have a good bit of cap to play with and have only dealt with Phil Dawson)

"Some of the money that was thrown around at the beginning, you have to be able to manage that" he said. "If you're going to pay some guy who has never been to a pro bowl more than anyone on your roster, that's a little bit difficult".

Just truth... Tired of these ball clubs upping the ante on hit or miss transactions some big name and some not but hurting the lower market teams come contract time

I'm thinking we need to sign another Dlinemen before draft?

That is unless Clifton Geathers is still in the mix. Or dare I say resign Cam Thomas?

Not sure what the Steelers are thinking but I feel unless we are looking at signing "pot roast" then there is no hurry in signing someone until after the draft. Also players get released after the draft so maybe if we are still in need someone becomes available. Another thing is I an not sure just where we are as far as available cap space.

I think there are some guys still out there especially at the LB spot where we just lost a few that we are going to keep our eyes on and maybe grave one on the cheap.
