Tony Pollard would be great here, IMO.

I also really like Josh Jacobs here.
I know the Steelers have a type when it comes to RB. Josh Jacobs fits that type.

The thing is they just need a 3rd RB and none of these guys fit that mold. They will all be the lead guy or the very least share lead duties

    True.

I don’t know the other RBs on the roster. May have our 3rd guy already.

What are your thought about Lavonte David?...He is free agent this year,he is old but I think he is still good....He could be a good short term option for the steelers

Cook was cut by the vikings in may or june and Elliott was washed in his last season in Dallas...This year is much better on paper

Yea, I dont know what RB FA market will bring, but even an older Henry, or Barkley/ Jacobs can be a young QB's best friend for some of these teams drafting or developing young talent. The role may be diminished a bit in this era, but having a guy who can move the sticks and be a rock is still a very affective and cheap way to go.

Why do we need a third running back

It doesn’t seem like we used one much in the past

Yea that would only be useful if one of the main two were hurt.

Right. They should roll with Connor Heyward as the 3rd back

One or both were hurt. Najee is out for an extended period, Warren gets fumble-itis now and again. A 3rd guy to count on is not a terrible idea. Only need to think of the Ravens and Browns last season.

They always do, don’t they? 2 RB’s is awful thin in case of injury.

I wouldn't have a problem if we drafted a RB mid rounds

I mean we obviously need 3 but the 3rd guy barring injury will be a non factor. Would love to have depth at every position but that’s not a reality.

The last thing they need is another guy on defense over thirty years old.

The Steelers 3rd team back now is Godwin Igwebuike. He's done a pretty good job as the KR but didn't get any playing time as a RB last season. I think the Steelers bring in a late draft pick like Frank Gore Jr. to compete for the 3rd back on the roster.

They did have three running backs active most of the 2023 season. McFarland played in three games and Igwebuike played in 10. Of course, they only managed two offensive touches between them all season, the two receptions by McFarland in the opener. I'm not sure if Igwebuike even got a snap on offense but was okay on kickoff returns. He has only carried the ball 21 times in his NFL career.

It would be good if they could find a third back who can fill in for Harris and Warren if necessary, but the guy is going to have to be able to play on special teams.
