Fran Tarkenton is still whining about the Steelers "steroid" use in the 70's

    Yep. I remember reading that too, that it started on the West coast in S.D. I also remember during that time it was no secret. Even during the pregame show during Monday Night Football and other games, there would be musings by the gameday announcers wondering if the steroids even work or that they might be dangerous. The NFL was ignoring the issue until they eventually acted to ban. There was no "cheating" technically until they were banned. Sounds like Fran was lamenting his guys were not using more steroids to keep up with the competition. I would bet the Raiders were the next team to get on the steroid band wagon before it became common knowledge.

    Everybody does it. Where have I heard that excuse before? Yeah it sucks the Steelers were involved with steroid use back then. Did it help them win? Idk. But don't be a hypocrite about it.

    How about this excuse? It wasn't illegal at the time.
