Ask one of the owners of the teams what it is like. They are way wealthier than the players, don't put their minds or bodies at risk to make their bundles, and almost certainly try to squeeze every dime out of every business opportunity they come across, including ****ing over regular tax payers with their stadium scams.

The transition tag has no draft pick compensation. Even the non-exclusive franchise tag would return only a 1st and a 3rd, since it’d be his third such designation.

The non-exclusive, but not when it’s used for the third time on a player. It drops to 1st/3rd.

Any chance he ever gets his # retired at Heinz Field? He had a short, yet brilliant career.

So I don’t get it. He forfeited $14 million and won’t be a free agent next year now. I don’t understand what he’s trying to do?

The Steelers now will still own his rights. So next year they can dictate what happens with him if I correct. To me he just wasted $14 million for nothing. Stupid.

The more important question to this whole saga...is Conner gonna be out of the protocol in time for this next game?

I'm done with Bell and its a contract issue shelved until next year. Nothing will happen now that the time has come and past.

One thing that no one is mentioning, if we Franchise or Transition Tag him next season and we have to go through all of this again then that ties up that money for a whole year and we can't use it to sign any free agents including our own.

From what Tomlin said, part of getting out of the protocol is practicing. There wasn’t a practice today. Therefore no way to get out. He will practice tomorrow, and out.

Maybe it’s just a quibble, but...

The Steelers merely hold the right to designate him as a franchise or transition player, in their discretion. Otherwise, he’s a completely free agent.

After reading that article I would be interested in if he has white clients and what he tells them. Not that there isn't a lot of truth to what he believes but it also paints with a very broad brush to borrow from Coach Tomlin's favorite sayings and not everyone is like that.

You made a related comment earlier which caused me to Goggle “Le’Veon Bell Agent slave”. That article came up. It certainly adds up.

I've been one of Bell's biggest apologists on here because I realize he wasn't under contract and it was a business decision. I could respect that even if I didn't agree with it .

What burns my ass though is the lack of communication and the games he played . Announcing he was leaving Miami and coming to Pittsburgh days before the deadline made people think he was going to report .

The genes he played were bull****.

I bet seeing what happened to Dez Bryant probably changed Bell's mind about signing his tag.

They all left on good terms...well, Harrison did the first time when he went to the Bengals.

As long as Colbert is GM, I don't see them taking back Bell.... even if it's a role like DeAngelo Williams.

Steelers either need to get a DeAngelo-type free agent in the offseason to back up Conner or draft one somewhere in rounds 3-5 to compete with Samuels and Ridley.
