To be clear, I’m not a Tomlin hater (most of the time). I text my buddy this during the Bengals game as at times I was excited and other times frustrated. My text “each time I wanna hate the man he proves me wrong. Each time I wanna love the man he proves me wrong.” I think most fans have love/hate relationships with their coaches.

My only real gripes on Tomlin is he’s seemingly clueless with timeout usages, often bad in short yardage situations, and horrendous at knowing when and when and when not to throw a challenge flag.

My nephew is a pilot and friend of Miles Killebrew. Killebrew is studying to be a pilot during the off seasons so that’s how they met. Anyway, according to Killebrew, the players absolutely love Tomlin. Say what you will about Tomlin but his “players coach” abilities and records speak for themselves.

Fire Tomlin! Fire Tomlin! Hear it a lot but the guy that replaces him will have to be damn good to match his regular season record.

Now the Playoff record is not earth shattering at 8-10.

Can't remember off top of my head but I think we are around .500 in AFCCG. Maybe 8-8? I always think we were 1 win away from being in 16 SB's. Steelers pretty much have had sustained success in the SB era.

Everyone including Tomlin feel the same....I just hope that the lack of playoffs win in the last few years is only a bad stretch(because the bad QB play the steelers had from 2019 to 2023),not a trend for the rest of his career like it was the case for Marty Schottenheimer

Herm Edwards was loveing in MT the other day, said Pitt fans are not content with regular season success, playoff wins but want SB's, been 6 or 7 years. LOL, 12 since we have been to one, 12 since we have been to one, 14 or so since a win. I am not a MT hater, I do think that HC's have a time limit of effectiveness. Noll was still a good coach, and actually left Cowher some decent talent, but the fire was missing. Cowher left at the right time, the passion was waning. The lack of playoff wins is the thing that sets MT back in peoples opinions. Some who have known him for years swear that the passion and fire are with him and in particular this year it is showing. I think a few other teams are playing at a very high level and have more in key positions, but I think for the first time in a few years this team can compete with anyone. Will see how far it goes, the next few weeks can be brutal, or iron sharpens iron.

Mike Tomlin is one of the best regular season coaches of all time. No arguing that. Let’s see if his piss poor playoff run will finally end this season. Russ has been far better than I anticipated but still very worried about his lack of weapons.

From the outside looking in, the faults I see with Tomlin:

During games are poor timeout use at times, a horrible record of when to throw it not throw the red flag, and a long term tendency to take the foot off of the gas when they have a lead.

Leading up to games, 'trap' games where the Steelers are expected to easily went. We have historically done very poorly against these teams. Often enough that I have to attribute it to a lack of preparation due to the expected ease of the game.

And player related, obviously I can't see what is actually going on behind the scenes, but it does appear that we have had a history primarily in the wide receiver room where the players get out of hand with their conduct and become prima donnas and problem children.

Overall, I'm happy with our successes over the years. Obviously I am disappointed in our postseason success, but at least we've never been a two and whatever team. But that won't keep me from making the occasional comment about dissatisfaction on some coaching decisions.....lol
