i lke moch and fragel but i would not leave beachum at center when there is a guy like velasco around , we should have took him instead of wallace and fragel instead of whimper , as for the running back i will have to check who is available before bring back dwyer .

I don't want to say I'm happy about this, but...Howling is just not NFL caliber. NFL LB's easily run him down and easily blow him up when trying to block on passing games.

If he didn't get hurt I would have some big concerns with him going forward as a 3rd down back.

 

not to mention it was an illegal cut block when he did it. pouncey was already engaged high on the guy.

 

David DeCastro is a complete idiot. I cannot fathom what he may have been thinking during that, other than perhaps he wasn't. Completely unacceptable. If they had depth at the position I would bench his *** and tell the others that that is what happens when you are an idiot.

DUDE I AGREE WITH BOTH OF YOU GUYS!!! After the game they were asking DeCastro about it and he gave the "I'll have to check the film but that's just football" and I was like "IT'S JUST FOOTBALL TO DIVE BOMB IN TO YOUR BEST PLAYERS KNEE????" How stupid is that????!!! Dude I was so furious when that happened and you can go back and look at the game thread to see it. What a stupid play. He said it was part of the zone blocking and they were supposed to cut the nose but didn't practice it too much at camp. I mean Pouncey had a perfect block going and there was NO need for him to do that! It was like Wheaton's stupid play on Sly in the preseason. Also there was a play where Ryan got banged up by Ike diving in to the pile after a play. We played some incredibly STUPID football today.

 

Without any first hand knowledge of anything...from only what I have read...and seen......It appears Decastro thought, or Pouncey was supposed to...or had the ability in the zone blocking scheme to disengage his block and move on to the next guy in line (the LB shooting in) while DD was to take on Pounceys guy....DD was slow of the snap...there for a step slow...so he threw himself into the cut block trying to get in front of defender....Gilbert also dropped into the cut block on that play.

All that being said...was still HORRIBLY BAD and close to borderline stupid....Ill be interested to see what Tomlin says an or spins in his weekly press con

After watching it and listening to his interview in the vid on Steelers.com....he admitted he was going to cut the guy etc...and I think the way it was supposed to go...Gilbert cuts his guy (as you can see he did)...then DD cut his....and Pouncey was supposed to disengage and move on up the field (or over) to the next guy...but didnt get away from the defender in time and DD already dove and Pouncey was there. You can see Pouncey was moving away from his guy (going to the defenders left) to move on to the incoming LB but be it Pouncey couldn't get free, the defender held onto him longer or what I dont know. We all know it wasnt intentional and things happen in a blink of an eye on the field and it just happened to be wrong place wrong time and it sucks. And you can tell in his short interview he is still torn up about it. It happened to him last year (while slightly different scenario, but still)...its one of those things.

 

I'm more worried about Pouncey's replacement more than anything. I believe I heard in the post game that Cody Wallace has 18 SNAPS in his CAREER! But with Beachum moved over that hurts us bad man!

 

Actually thats not what he said. When asked what happened he said "I went down to cut the defender and took out Pouncey as well...you can see it on the film." Basicly telling the reporter...you can see what happened in the film....not that he didnt know what happened and he'd have to check the film. And as far as NO need for it...thats what he was supposed to do (obviously not taking out Pouncey, but cutting the defender)!! If you look at things (like myself and hack...above) you'd see that. Some of you need to relax a little.
