Just an observation: when we were in Pitt last week for the home opener, the only ones we saw in town not wearing Steelers gear were the handful of Jets fans. I just came back from the grocery store here in the San Diego suburbs and only 5 people in the whole store were wearing Charger gear! :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: And Spanos wants taxpayers to build him a new stadium? :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

I don't wear my jersey anywhere except to the place I'll be watching the game (sports bar or friends house). Otherwise I don't like wearing jerseys. Really has nothing to do with being a fan or not being a fan.

Just an observation but on Sundays in the fall in the Burg whenever you go out of the house there are about 90% Steelers jerseys.

The wife and I were traveling back from Pittsburgh several years ago and upon leaving Pittsburgh on a Sunday morning my wife looked out the passenger window and started laughing. I said whats up? She then said look at that chrurch, there are about a dozen people wearing Steelers jerseys. Being from Atlanta she couldn't believe. I told her it a big game today. Unfortunately, that was the Ravens game in the fall where they beat us about 35-7.
If I'm not mistaken that is where the Steelers went on the Superbowl XL run.

I wasn't talking about jerseys. Hats and t-shirts qualify as Steelers gear too. My superstition dictates that I don't put my "lucky" hat and jersey on until 5 minutes before kickoff.

Not much love in the San Diego suburbs. I think most Chargers fans are younger (25-39years old). Head down to Pacific Beach on a Sunday afternoon and you'll see a lot of powdered blue. Of course, there is also a good Steelers bar there (Bub's) as well as a big Eagles bar (go figure).

The first time I went I was amazed. Its just something you cant believe until you see it. From the time I got on the PA turn pike to the time I got in Pittsburgh, it was black and gold. If theres one place on this earth that I should ve been born its Pittsburgh. Everytime I go, its like I just got back home. And if you have on your Steeler gear, everyone treats you like family.

Yeah, me and 3 buddies went to Pittsburgh for a Penguins and Steelers game and we couldn't believe how many jerseys there were everywhere. I've never seen anything like it. Almost everyone had a jersey on for both games. Was very impressed.

Listen, people in Pittsburgh wear black and gold to church on Sunday morning. I've seen that freak out other team fans in town for the game.

No thanks. I wouldn't go to Pacific Beach on a bet. I grew up in Pt. Loma/O.B. and never understood the attraction to P.B. Here in Santee, just down the street from me, are a few houses that have Charger flags out on game days. Besides being younger, a lot of the people that care about the Chargers live on the other side of the border.

Well, your suburban, successful San Dieogans aren't walking around in jerseys so you're unlikely to see that at the Costco in Carlsbad.

The young drug/drunk/surf crowd down at the beach . . . that's your jersey crowd.

Pt Loma is beautiful. Used to sail out from Coronado Island from a marina near the hotel and sail out past Pt Loma and back.

Now that I'm the captain of a corporate yacht, I do the bay cruise thing 3-4 times a week. Similar to what hornblower does but only with our clients.
