I am coming to the burgh for the first time to see the Steelers/Eagles game. I am staying at the downtown Westin. I arrive on Friday. Anyone else going to this game? If so, I would love to know how I can get in some tailgate action on gameday. Otherwise, I will be wandering around with a "feed me, I'm from out of town sign" around my neck:)

I will be hitting up the downtown bar scene on Fri and Sat nights for sure.

By the the way, I am part of the Kansas City Steelers Fans Club and Antonio Brown's dad watches most of the games with us and at my table. So cool!! He's a high school football coach here in KC!

Anyways, if anyone can pass along some suggestions for me during the Steelers/Eagles weekend, please do so! :herewego:

    GO STEELERS!!!

Last time I stayed at the Westin the night before a Steelers game, the Cleveland Browns team was staying there as well.

I think I'm skipping the Eagles game. I'll be in Atlanta that weekend til Saturday.

Not too hard to miss the tailgate action. It's like Arrowhead's parking lot. Rampant. Just walk through the parking lot between Heinz and PNC Park and you'll find what you're looking for.

Don't know that there's really a 'downtown bar scene' in the Burgh. You're probably better off heading over to Station Square or Carson Street (depending on your age). Downtown is more upscale dining and dive bars. Your 'bar scene' is more in the areas I mentioned.

Suggestions for a weekend in the Burgh?
*Duquesne Incline up to the top of Mt Washington is, of course, a must (without sounding too gay, I think fall foliage might be kicking in by then so the hills will have some nice color to them)
*I like to tour some of the ballparks. PNC Park might be open for tours (on the field, dugout, locker room, etc).
*Some decent little bars/restaurants (including a Primanti's) at the foot of the PPG building
*The greatest one-stop Steelers shopping experience you could ever dream of at Hometowne Sports at Station Square (note: Chris Rainey is scheduled to sign autographs in that store on Saturday between 3 and 5pm. I always pick up a Terrible Towel at Station Square that is dated and says what team we were playing on it. I've got tons of em from the games I've seen at Heinz. I think it's a cool little souvenir.
*For cheaper Steelers gear (and odds and ends) you might want to head over to the Strip District. Albert's gifts has some decent stuff on the cheap and the street is lined with little shops selling t-shirts and whatnot. Also, dessert pancakes at Deluca's is highlighted on most of the travel channel/food network shows that feature the 'Burgh (get their early if you want breakfast). Also, if you're there for lunch you can grab the #7 (the original 'Roethlisburger') at Peppi's (there's another location dahntahn on Smithfield St. The Roberto Clemente museum is just north of the heart of the Strip District as well.
*If you're into culture/arts (and you're like me and visited the Nelson-Atkins Museum, the Negro League Baseball Hall of Fame, and the Jazz Museum at 18th and Vine in K.C.) then you might be interested in the Warhol Museum or the Frick Museum as well as some Frank Lloyd Wright works at Falling Waters and Kentucknob
*If you arrive early enough on Friday night, the Steelers Fashion Show is always a big event in the Burgh every year (and the players and their families participate). It takes place at Heinz Field. It's a charity event so it's $250 per person (not sure what your budget is).

Feel the Steel just about covers everything, He must be a local also. again depending on your age and budget
Carson St, Southside is where the action is. Lets say it is very diverse. Myself being
a local and older I prefer Bloomfield section of PGH.Also by PNC park there are some entertainment venues
Tilted kilt/ Bettis's etc. etc.HAVE fun and be careful.
