Ian Rappaport is reporting that Jerry is going after Lincoln Riley big time. I'm sure he is well paid at Oklahoma but Jerry is willing to give him a blank check to coach the Cowgirls.

I'd very much like to see Josh McDaniels standing on the Browns sideline next year. I'm convinced he's a fraud who has lived off Brady and Belichick. That disaster in Denver could use a sequel in Cleveland.

You're opening up a can of worms, arguing the Rooney Rule with an apologist. I've been down that road before. He's going to come back half-cocked spouting off about how Tomlin wasn't hired because of the Rooney Rule because it only grants the interview. He will tell you that the Steelers had already interviewed a minority and therefore satisfied the Rule before interviewing Tomlin. Tomlin, according to apologists, would have gotten the job without the Rule because of his potential to win lots of regular-season games. What the apologists fail to realize is that without the Rule, Jibber-Jabber wouldn't have been considered and some other coach would have won a SB with Cowher's leftovers.

Here's the thing about stupid rules like this...we don't need a rule to recognize talent. The world is changing. It might have not happened as quickly without the rule, but minority coaches would have been given opportunities. And without the rule, the best talent would have been considered, not those who really aren't ready...like Tomlin. Ill-conceived rules like the Rooney Rule only serve to water down the talent at the top. The game suffers as a result.

Now, before the pitchforks are raised and the torches are lit, this is not about race or ethnicity. I don't care what the color of a person's skin is. Black, white, Asian, Indian, Hispanic, I don't care. I just want the best qualified and prepared individuals coaching the league. The Rooney Rule doesn't make that happen. Therefore, it is flawed.

Maybe they weren't serious about Lewis, they still satisfied the Rooney rule though.

I saw a round table discussion about this very subject on the NFL Network last week. Black canidates for head coach or GM were complaining that they were called in for an interview and then just hours later a white coach was hired.
Their complaint was the team had already made their hiring selection and then brought a minority in to interview for no other reason than to satisfy the Rooney rule.

wow didn't think Dallas would make a decision so quick. I guess McCarthys year of self evaluation did good for his interviewing skill

I'm wondering if Aiello's pizza in Greenfield will now put up a Cowboys Jersey in honor of McCarthy like they did with the Packers jersey?

Mike was a solid hire for Dallas, 13 years with the packers, 9 playoffs 1 super bowl win, thats a strong resume, hell I wish we had him instead of what we got.....

He might be the stabilizing influence that the under performing Cowboys need. On the other hand 9 playoffs in 13 years looks good but he had Aaron Rodgers as his QB, he better make the playoffs. If you look at the 20 games that Rodgers missed in his career, the Packers were 6-13-1. So the team's success has been all Rodgers, not McCarthy.
