Only one of the plays in that video came against the Steelers. The larger issue is that not enough of them were highlights of him throwing the ball.

4, actually, were against the Steelers. And one minute of him running, and two and a half minutes of him throwing.

Fields will be the starter before the season is through and STD will have to root for a running QB and Im here for it.

Not arguing just getting your opinion

Why do you think Fields will do better here than he did in Chicago and why do you think he will be better than Wilson

He’ll do better here because it’s a better team. But “better” in this case can still be a bottom 10 (or worse) starting QB.

I’ll be rooting for him too. It doesn’t mean that I think there’s much chance at all of him being anything better than a poor man’s version of a certain QB that’s been “awarded” 2 MVPs without winning much of importance despite having maybe the best roster in the entire NFL to support him.

these above videos are very good to watch. to me they sound exactly like what was going on with pickett. he didn't get the chance with smith. fields will but why are we trying the same qb problem but just with a different qb. one we had for 3 more years under contract, this one we have one year and have to make the decision on. same play more money in the long run. is it because he can run better? that's what i was trying to get at in the thread that got taken down. he is not lamar jackson if that is the thinking. just strange how we are wasting years of other players. TE's, RB's, O-Linemen, WR's to try the same type of failure in defensive reading and hoping for a different outcome. i know russell will give them a year but....

After the last two years, I'll take any kind of offensive TD's directly caused by a QB... running... passing... fumbling... lateraling... whatever...

After last season with the Steelers QBs only combining for 13 TD passes, in 2024 that number could double.

I think you were thinking the ones against the Commanders happened against the Steelers.

Mostly just needling STD because he is clearly going to remind us how awful Fields is all off season!

I’m also not convinced Wilson is going to play as well as some fans think. I sometimes catch myself getting caught up in the hype and have to remind myself they aren’t getting Wilson from his Seattle days. I’m hoping that guy is in there somewhere still and Smith can bring it out of him but he has been on the decline for three seasons now. A declining Ben couldnt get the job done either.

Lastly, I feel they believe Fields can be that franchise guy and won’t want to have him sitting for too long, he’s going into his 4th season. I think if Wilson is struggling they will make the switch. Fields has shown improvement each season, last year he had back to back games with something like 400 yards and 3 or 4 TD’s. Don’t care who he was playing, that’s not easy and shows the potential he has.

Tomlin’s statement on Fields scares me a lot. Yes, Fields has a great physical skill set, and is by all accounts a good teammate and locker room guy. None of that will matter if he doesn’t get a handle on the mental aspect of the game, and his running ability won’t account for wins if he keeps putting the ball on the turf. Oozing talent is just part of the equation.

Actually, he had a pretty good game against Pittsburgh the one time he played them (2021) Three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take the lead, lost on a last second Steeler field goal.

He had 290 yards passing against us and the Bears would have won the game except for a controversial taunting call. The Steelers were losing 27-26 and had to go for it on fourth down when Ben was sacked by Cassius Marsh which put the Bears in a great position to win. Marsh, who the Steelers cut earlier in the season, walked a few feet over towards the Steelers bench and shouted something. While walking back to the Bears sideline he collided with an official and then was hit with a taunting call. The Steelers got an automatic first down and drove down and Boswell kicked a FG to win the game with a few seconds left. I was relieved we won but we sure caught a lucky break in that win.

    so, Tomlin presser.

Kenny basically said "I want a change of scenery" the week of the Russell Wilson deal. (I told the board this, many scoffed at me). The Fields conversations were warm, Tomlin said. They got warmer that week. Tomlin felt the Steelers got a good player in Kenny's departure.

In the end, no one long term will cry over Kenny's departure. (well, except for his 3 hard core fans here)

And we may rejoice with a young talented Fields.

    or

we may be back to the drawing board in 2-3 years.

it is called FOOTBALL and the NFL....

It shows he has great physical gifts, so he is able to tear it up against poor defenses. When the opponents get tougher, he has to read defenses properly to be effective. He hasn't been able to do that.

I think teams also figure out what he is doing and he can't adjust. That is likely the reason why his fourth-quarter statistics are horrid.
