Hey everyone,

The site will be down for a while this evening for some scheduled maintenance and updates. If everything goes smoothly it should only be down for a couple hours. If it doesn't go so smoothly, I'll update on Twitter.

Figured we could have a place to put all of the training camp info in one spot.

One question. Who do you guys follow for the best updates? Bouchette has tapered off the past couple years. He seems to post just the major stuff.

The Steelers had a pretty good draft. I'm happy with everything. We all know; however, besides signing Bostic, which I believe was a good move also, we still have a deficit at inside linebacker.


Somehow, Timmons is still available. One year removed from team posting 80+ tackles with the Dolphins last year in a role not playing to his strengths, this guy is not done yet.

Timmons may have lost a step in coverage, although plays like this certainly suggest he can still make plays.




The guy was SOLID against the run. He's an extremely physical linebacker. He's exactly what you need helping take on blockers plugging up the MIDDLE RUNS, which we got exploited by the Jaguars running game.

Bring back LT for a 1 year contract. At this rate, looks like the Steelers could almost get him at the veteran minimum. He could play in situational running situations as well as give depth at inside linebacker.

Early but can't wait any longer!

It's that time of year again. The VA Steel Pick 'Em pool is now open. To join the pool, click on the Pickem tab on the top of the page, from there, click on "Manage Your Pools" on the top navigation menu. Join the 2016 pool, after you've joined, click the "manage your picks" tab on the top menu, and click the red Edit Picks link to enter your picks for the week.

Tiebreaker is total points for the Monday Night Football game. If there are multiple MNF games, we'll go by the total for the late game. We'll use this thread for week 1's tiebreakers.

If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to ask away.

The 2016 Survivor pool is open for business. Last year, @Thigpen82 won the title via a gentleman's game of Rock, Paper, & Scissors, as he and I seemed to be using the same crystal ball each week. This year, I've made it a double-elimination, so hopefully 90% of the players won't be out after week 1.

To join, go to the Survivor tab on the upper menu, from there, click on "Manage Your Pools" on the top menu. Join the 2016 pool, then click on "Manage Your Picks" on the top menu. From there you'll see a red "Make Pick" link which will take you to the pick selection page. You can choose one team to win each week, and you can only use that team once for the duration of the season.

Follow the rules below and make your prediction. I'll publish the results after the game in a post on this thread. There will be 2 ways to win (a weekly winner and a yearly winner).

This week's tiebreaker is Steelers passing yards


The rules are simple. Whoever predicts the correct winner with the score closest to the actual score wins. For example if the score is Pittsburgh 28 Cincinnati 21 The method of determining your score is to take the value of the difference of your guess of the Pittsburgh score and the value of the difference of your guess of the opponent score. You also must pick the correct winner to make your pick valid. In case of a tie, the tiebreaker is used.
For example if TTFs prediction is 35-21 Steelers he would be 7 points from the actual score…..35-28=7 21-21=0...

I'm curious, because of some of the personnel decisions they've made over the course of several years.

Looking at the situation they had and having to play guys that were cut multiple times and not dressed for most of the year, what goes into those decision?

You had a bunch of unproven players showing that they could step up and play (some better than the starters they replaced). What's really going on with the player evaluations? Or is it just that those guys were more hungry for the chance that they played above their ceilings?

they need to start wining some games and they can no lose any more games.

I've been a staunch supporter of Coach Tomlin but the clock management outside of 2 minutes was atrocious. If he uses 2 of his timeouts before the 2 minute warning we would've had at least 1 more play, probably 2... Pathetic..

Just wondering if anyone may have an update on him. I know by IR rules he can start practicing in week 6 but I haven't heard of how he's doing and I'm tired of seeing Wallace getting beat without even trying

Okay, I'm reaching out to my all 22 brethren out there. Is JJ really as bad as he appears to be to those of us who simply watch the games and try to observe certain players from time to time?

In Thursday's game I saw JJ get owned by the LT and he seemed to just get absorbed into the lineman blocking him and unable to disengage. He had no speed rush, no bull rush, no inside move whatsoever. He also missed at least one tackle behind the LOS and didn't appear to be as solid in the run game which has been his strong suit to this point. As the game wore on and each defensive series became more critical, I didn't see JJ at all. It was all James Harrison.

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but my concerns about JJ being able to develop into something special at this level increase from week to week. I'm not so sure at this point that the spinal stenosis he was diagnosed with at USC is not affecting him more than we think.

What are you "dark room and a projector" guys seeing?

Just curious how everyone feels about this. Should the Steelers cut him or should they give him time?
