One that I thought about today was the play against the Rats where he actually swatted the ball away from Flacco and out of bounds. It was the one where they later deemed the play to have been illegal and since I'm sure it brought a lot of anger and misery to rats fans it is one of my favorite plays.

My favorite is when he met and spoke with my 85 year old mother for as long as she wanted at Ikea in Robinson Twp.

After reading this thread and seeing others football players react to the news I am struck by how fortunate some of these men are for getting to be part of this organization. For a lot of players going to work is their job and while they may love football, they aren't in love with the team they are on. So when you see outpouring of emotion like this from players, coaches, owners it makes me glad that this is my team and that they aren't like other teams. Sometimes it is a lot like a family.

Ike has pretty much said that the Rooney's are his family.

that's great. have a similar story about a cousin that went to a game one year and found the hotel before the game. his 8 yr old boy had a jersey on of troys. he started jumping up and down yelling when he seen him. troy came over and had a pic with the kid and talked to them 10 or 15 min he said. the only player that night who done that they said.

If you're referring to the pick 6, no that one was in the '09 AFCCG. The game that started badly for us (down 21-7) was the '11 divisional game. In the '09 AFCCG, we dominated the first half and would probably have been in coast mode had Sweed not dropped an easy TD on a bomb. In the '09 game, we led 16-14 late when Troy made the pick 6. IN the '11 game, Ryan Clark had a nice pick on a pass to Heap to help fuel the comeback.

That was the 08 championship game. In 09 we didn't make the playoffs. Unless you are calling it the 09 game because it was actually played in 09 even though it was the 08 season still playing out?

Dude! That is one of the coolest things ever! That reminds me of how cool I felt when Sting talked to me when I was a little kid. I've never forgotten that and these kids will never forget this.

The pick six against the Ravens in the 2008 AFCCG, and the strip sack of Flacco. Also the diving int against the Chargers he scooped the ball before it hit the ground.

Snack, I know exactly what you're talking about when you say the Ass-tackle. It was against Denver in the AFCCG a week after they beat the Colts in '05. That play, along with the one he made at the goal line were classics. He sprinted to the goal line on a screen pass and took the legs out from under their running back at the one yard line. Don't remember the running back though, could have been Mike Anderson. I saw that and knew we had something special that year.

Thanks. I thought it was Denver, but wasn't sure. I forgot it was the 2005 AFCCG though. He split OL on screens on more than one occasion, for sure.

Ya know, I`ve been thinking about this topic a bit over the last few days,...

And I`ve come to the conclusion, that my favorite Troy moment hasn`t happened yet.

It will be his acceptance speech to the Hall of Fame.

The phrase "One of a Kind", gets thrown around, and kind of over-used a bit, in my opinion...

But Troy truly is "ONE OF A KIND"...

I honestly believe we never have, and never will, see a player play the game, quite the way he did.

And be as humble, off it...

With all due respect to the Bus,(Who I will be cheering wildly for, in about 3 months)...

For every quarterback, runningback, safety, linebacker, center, tight end, or whatever position, you want to pick...

There is at least one that came before them, that you can compare them to..

    Not Troy...

He did things on the field that NO ONE ever had, or probably ever will again...

AND, he did it with no ego...

    Talked no trash...

His humility was sincere, as was his willingness to talk about himself, and his faith/ heritage, etc...

But if you opposed him on the field, he would do whatever it took, to DESTROY YOU!!!

Watching all of his highlights, all I could think, was who does that?!?!, And, HOW does he do that?!?!

    Like I said...

NO ONE... Ever has, or probably ever will.. quite like he has...

Not, to insult Bettis, but plenty of big backs have overpowered people.

He was a bit faster on his feet, than most, but, comparisons can be made..(Steven Jackson, from the team he came from for instance...)..

Or if you wanna talk about Linebackers...

I LOVE Jack Lambert, but he can fairly be compared to Dick Butkus, Lawerence Taylor, etc...

Safeties... Yes, I love Donnie Shell, and Ronnie Lott..
But they didn`t play the game, anywhere near the same way Troy did...

Quarterbacks... Well, Ben, is KIND of in a class of his own, but, he isn`t the first qb to scramble and make completions...

And as time goes on, there are more and more that theaten you with their legs, and arm(Do I really need to list `em???)..

All I am trying to say, is, there has never been, and probably never will be a player, like Troy...

The closest thing I can think of is J.J. Watt..., Currentley.. or ever...

They are just so unpredictable, and effective, that you simply CANNOT "gameplan" against them...
    Even if you try...

That is a tremendous honor for an individual player, in my humble opinion...

    Especially, on defense...

    When the rules favor offense...

A long winded way of saying... My favorite "Troy Moment" will be his induction speech, and well deserved!!!:herewego::herewego!::steelflag::drinks::yeehaw:

I've actually read somewhere that Troy talked a lot of smack. It's hard for me to imagine and I don't know if it's actually true but if it is I find it absolutely hilarious that such an unassuming guy could ever be a smack talker.
