That stinks. Dislocated knee cap. Anybody know the history of this type of injury and the ability to return at or near 100%? Hoping for a quick recovery but that just sounds awful.

The last dislocated knee cap I can remember was Pat Mahomes, but I believe He played a few weeks later, but that's a totally different position, and requirement on the knee.

Hard to say at this point without knowing the specifics around the ligaments they need to surgically repair. If there was no ligament damage (as with Maholmes a couple of years ago) he could have theoretically returned within a couple of weeks with a brace. Obviously, this wasn't the case with Troy, but I haven't seen much in the way of specifics (at least not with the time I've had to look).

The partial MCL tear could complicate matters in terms of recovery, but they're likely referring to the MPFL with the surgical repair, as it holds the patella in place. I'm no doctor (nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night), but I would guess the prognosis for return to form is fairly good, though the risk for future dislocation will depend on anatomical specifics of Fautanu's knee.

Here's a video that uses Maholmes' injury to explain the factors involved:

I'm gonna start a thread on how the Steelers are going to lose to the Colts because Tomlin teams play down to lesser teams.

it REALLY does. little depth on that OLINE. and with Jones' elbow injury, just VERY thin.

Dan Moore stays at LT, Jones at Right,
    Get Semeola back soon.
Frazier has been Pro Bowl form already.

    But yes - this SUCKS.

Reminder that David DeCastro's Rookie Season also ended with a Dislocated Knee. He turned out to have a great NFL Career! Not only that, Sports Medicine and Medical Science have come a long way from 2012.

Feel really bad for Troy Fautanu; doubly so after such a promising debut. That said, I am not giving up on him despite the setback. He was one of the best Offensive Lineman in the draft for a reason and, even in the limited time he played, he proved himself.

Looking forward to next season. Godspeed Mr. Fautanu!! Best of luck!! :steelflag::steelflag::steelflag:

I will try not to hold this injury against Khan, but it makes the DJ trade and passing on CB Quinyon Mitchell in the draft that much worse.

If DJ is on the team we go into the draft needing a CB, and we walk out with the best CB in the draft.

3 games into the season and Mitchell is already looking like the best DB playing for the eagles

Could be back for playoffs I'm reading. Feel bad for him, but he looks promising.

I watch so many NFL shows on TV that I can't remember who it was that said he could come back and play if the Steelers make the playoffs.

I don't think anyone is that surprised, but it still sucks though. I was hoping the Steelers first 3 rookie draft picks were going to make an impact this year, but so far Frazier has been the only one to do so, and that's only because Herbig got injured. Seems like it's been a blessing in disguise for them so far, because Frazier has been a beast

In the way of smarts the best I get is Motel 6, but the light doesn't stay on for very long.

Not surprised, but that really sucks for him and the team.

Anyone else think Moore Jr. might have a few voodoo dolls in his possession?
