There's a fake trade posted in one of the threads on the board, so I thought I would contribute one as well. Since Blake Bortles stunk up the joint tonight, to the point that Jon Gruden said they should give Chad Henne some first team reps (Chad Henne!), how about Josh Dobbs for Paul Posluszny?

Why would you want to get rid of Josh Dobbs?

Doesn't really make sense for either team, though Posluszny is probably the better player and a local guy, which some people seem to care about.

I like Posluszny but he is over the hill and injury prone, and he can't cover tight ends to save his jock, at this point.

Can't imagine why Jax wouldn't want the raw talent of a career 3rd-stringer-in-the-making when all it costs them is a 100 tackle a year guy.

Maybe we need green font for thread titles as well as posts?

You did. I asked a serious question which you obviously ignored.

Mine wasn't a serious post. First, such a trade would be totally lopsided in the Steelers favor. Second, I was looked for an opportunity to incur the wrath of some Dobbs apologists, who seem to think he's the second coming of Landry Jones, by arguing that Dobbs should be the back up. And then, who knows? Dobbs may actually learn to take a snap from under center, and perhaps read a defense and go through progressions.

Since you asked, though, why would I want to get rid of Dobbs? One, if I were running the show, I'd keep just two quarterbacks on the 53-man, with the third QB on the practice squad. There is nothing more wasteful on an NFL roster than a third quarterback. Well, I guess two kickers, punters or long snappers would trump three quarterbacks, but if the best team in the league keeps only two, there's nothing wrong with being a copycat. Second, assuming three quarterbacks will be on the roster, I'd prefer to have a veteran guy with some game experience, who isn't named after a former Cowboys coach. A few of those guys are going to get cut in a few weeks. Third, I would want to get rid of Dobbs to dispel any notion that he is in any way in line for the throne. How we got from Randy Fichtner saying Dobbs was selected because he makes the QB room smarter, and Art Rooney II saying in an interview that any QB taken is not to be seen as a replacement for Roethlisberger, to Dobbs becoming a development project with starter potential is beyond me.

Going back to the days of Terry Hanratty, Joe Gilliam, and Terry Bradshaw, there's nothing like a good debate over who should be the back up quarterback for the Steelers.

The entire thread wasn't serious, but this is funny. People actually think Dobbs has trade value?

I wouldn't want the Steelers to trade for Posluszny, either. I just jumped in because I'm not that impressed by Dobbs and I've been a fan of Posluszny since I saw him play at Hopewell.
