This entire post just pisses me off. Someone takes a pic at HALFTIME, showing the empty seats and now Steeler fans are fairweather and left at halftime? Or, maybe, they went to the bathroom or got food/drink? Heinz Field looks like EVERY other stadium at halftime- empty. Did you guys watch the end of the game? The crowd was pretty loud for a nearly empty stadium....

I was watching the Bears-Ravens game on TV. During the weather delay, that stadium REALLY looked empty. Talk about fair weather fans; a little threat of tornados causes them to leave their seats. ;)

I have been to 3 games in Pittsburgh. I have yet to believe the sun actually shines on gameday... :)

The GB game in 09. Coldest kickoff in Heinz Field history. Awesome game stayed until the end. Wallace's catch in the end zone right in front of our seats.
Benglas 2010 - huge winter storm blows through on Sunday. Rain changing to snow with 30+ winds. That is the game the defense scored twice to win.
Last year the Redskins game. Rain and windy all day temp in the mid 40's.

Stayed until the very end of each one. Granted since I only get to maybe a game every other year it is a bit different but if I lived in Pittsburgh and was fortunate enough to have season tickets I would stay until the end. But to each his own.

And I would, too, and always have...but thats the point. This pic was taken at halftime- hardly anyone stays in their seats at halftime. Showing people walking around and a bunch of empty seats during halftime suggests nothing about Steeler fans except they have to pee and get hungry/thirsty.

Did I post a pic? It should have been a video of people leaving at halftime. There's no re-entry. I do agree about it always looking empty after halftime for the reasons you mentioned.

I was at the Titans game and people were fleeing early 4th quarter. Doesn't seem right to me.

Son you have been in the hills too long. There is LOTS of money to be made when people are actually at the game.

IMHO it is related to both the poor season and the economy. While tickets being sold second hand are not going for as much as they used to, they are still quite expensive for people who are or have unemployed family members. Trust me, if my wife had a full time job, I'd be there a whole lot more often. Now, I have two daughters with braces on right now, if it weren't for that, I'd be looking for tickets to the Cleveland game. As far as the weather, I'm driving 3.5 - 4 hours to get there, a little rain isn't going to get me to leave early.

I haven't been to the games all year. back trouble. my tickets are always used though, by my sons or niece. my dads are used by a couple of close friends and that's it. if those people can't go, nobody does. it used to be if we couldn't go for some reason we would sell them to various people. the preseason games usually got sold. that is to risky anymore unless you really know them well. if somebody acts a fool in your seats, you could lose them. I think this rule has had a lot to do with empty seats too.

There was a recent report that suggested fan attendance is down league wide. It's the economy, and new directv subscribers getting compd the ticket.

There's thousands of tickets for sale on NFLticketexchange and stub hub. I wonder how bad someone has to act to cause someone to lose their seats? I wonder how much it's enforced not just by the Steelers?

The last time the Steelers played the Giants, the 3 seats to my right were given to them by the regulars who owned their own company. The 3 guys were complete jackasses. 4 rows in front of us were 4 Giants fans, 4 fairly large 40 somethings having a good time. Naturally they cheered when the Giants had a good play or scored. The Giants were winning and the frustration caused the 3 punks to start yelling at them every time they'd stand up or high 5, or whatever. Eventually there were words between the group with the 3 punks saying something along the line of "this is my house and you'll do what I say." The Giants fans could have easily and literally ripped these guys limb from limb, but instead chose to take the high road and say "Chill out buddy, its just a game." Eventually security was called and every single person around us singled out the 3 punks as the instigators. Ironically these guys were so brazen because they thought they had an Army of 60,000 behind them. Not so. They were escorted out and the Giants fans allowed to stay. The next game I talked to the owners of the seats and they said that they received a strongly worded warning from the Steelers and that they were going to be extra careful who got their seats going forward.

You're wrong I saw a video leaving the game at halftime in the parking lot, in the second half there seemed to be a lot of empty seats.

Yeah that's it I could understand maybe if they were losing by 4 TD's or something, but it was still a close game at halftime.

Only been to one game at Heinz. Caught the Buffalo game a few years ago with my Goddaughter. Was ready for cold and had her bundled up, had to start taking layers off in the first quarter and applying sunscreen. We were in the bleacher seats though. I instilled the stay until the last second mantra on her...lol.

I use to catch the games in Jax and never left until the clock read 00:00. Rain or shine. Haven't gotten to go to a cold weather game yet. It was cold outside the stadium in Fed-ex at the Monday Night Washington game, but it was hot as hell in the lower bowl seats we had.

    hey
there's enough blame to go around for this season so far.
just making sure you are holding up your end of the deal.
just didn't want to be disappointed that you left early.
glad to hear it wasn't you. sry about that.
it was the weekend I was pushing for the most to see a game, because it was going to be the Tarheel gme on Saturday then the Steelers on sunday.
like you, scheduling did not allow it,and also like you I would there to the end.

I dont leave games early but I have seen alot of people leave near the end of the game to avoid the traffice jam. Again, I dont do it, but that is completely different than a pic ( and no, TTF, you didnt post a pic but there is one floating around which is I think what started this thread to begin with) of our stadium at halftime, empty, and assuming its because the Steeler fans are "fair weather fans". I guess that is just a real sore spot with me..
