Like I said in a twitter post, Keenan Allen is an elite WR in this league, there is NO LB anywhere that can cover him. Do you think the Ravens put Terrell Suggs on Julio Jones yesterday ?? WTF is wrong with Butler.

Yeah it’s too bad Tomlin isn’t Butlers boss and he has no input in game planning and making adjustments... He’s obviously too busy doing more important things....

If it wasn't for Ben's interception and over throw on Hunter wouldn't have been at least 35 - 0 at HT? (Assuming they also called the Charger TD back because of false start)

Seemed to me that the game plan was working just fine!!

Your math is a bit off, but the thinking is sound. The interception cost them a field goal. That was third down and you can't assume a conversion, so assume they settle for three there. They then settled for a field goal after Roethlisberger overthrew Hunter. That's four more points for a total of seven, giving them 30 at halftime.

Assuming a struggling Boz makes those field goals.

If everything has been fine for years why are we always one and done and haven't been to a SB in 8 years with this overly talented team

Tomlin won with Cowher's players. I stand by this statement lol. Cowher built a great defense, one Tomlin can't do.

I don't hate Tomlin at all, I just recognize he is a wordsmith who can win many games, just not the big ones where it falls on his shoulders.

In Tomlin's defense, he drafted Timmons and Woodley, who played roles in the 2008 Super Bowl run... but yeah, most of the defensive players were already in place by Cowher.

Let's be real - it's not like MT came in here and overhauled the system. He kept the existing scheme in place and has ridden it ever since.

To his credit, it's not like we needed an overhaul. But he gets way too much credit for doing not much to a system that was already in place.

The offense is 10th in points per drive. The defense is 7th. The defense has outperformed the offense to this point of the season. Given the talent disparity I think the offense has clearly been more disappointing. They look incredible at times but take way too many series off. Ben's penchant for missing wide open receivers and making brain dead interceptions at least once a game is not doing us any favors.

what i mean is I don't hate the guy personally lol. He is what he is, sort of speak. Standard is the standard and paint all these damn barns with broad brushes. We just need to let our iron sharpen the iron and need to defend that single blade of grass better, play attrition football.

Absolutely. And Tomlin was wise to keep the 3-4 in place for as long as the core defensive players were producing at a high level. My gripe is.... after the SBXLV loss to the Packers, Tomlin should have had the foresight to draft defensive players to successfully combat Brady, Rodgers, Glennon and Brees. Carrol and the Seahawks succeeded at this. The Steelers failed miserably, IMO.

other than 4-3 what other defense would you employ if you were the coach?

I'm not a coach, but common sense tells me that a 4-3 defense is much easier to implement, because college kids, more often than not.... play in the 4-3 base defense. Don't get wrong... the 3-4 is badass when all cylinders are clicking, but it's difficult to find OLBs and ILBs that can hit the ground running in a 3-4 straight out of college. We draft project players like Worilds, Jones, Williams, Dupree who take years to catch on. There's been exceptions like Kendrell Bell, Woodley, Shazier and Watt... who pick it up quick, but those guys are few and far between.

    brett kiesel/hampton/smith = awesome D line
    Harrison/farrior/foote/woodley = amazing linebackers
    ike/troy/clark/gay= solid secondary

    now it's

tuitt/hargrave/heward = amazing d line IF tuitt is healthy
bud/bostic/vince/watt = only watt is good
    haden/davis/edmunds/coty - garbage lol

You think tuitt/hargrave/heward > brett kiesel/hampton/smith, assuming Amazing > Awesome?

Hate to disagree with you there, you're already in a mood LOL.

Troy and Clark made the secondary solid... the others, meh.

Ike, in his own head, was great. Not so much in reality.

WillieG was good for flash plays every now and then, but was consistently picked on as a weak corner.
