That was a good "Any Era" list. Ben definitely deserves it as he could have easily played when there weren't all the rules to protect QBs. And Troy... well... nothing even needs to be said...

I think it was current players who could have played in any era. Not top ever right?

Totally agree. Most people know how great Ben is, especially when you go outside our own fan base. Steeler fans have always been hard on their QB's, TB took more **** then even Ben does and he's in the HOF! And what can you say about Troy, even Steeler fans are in agreement with how great he is.

Wow, still no Ben haters replying to this thread. They're quick to reply to the negative Ben threads...

i don't know that there are any "ben haters", per se. i don't think there is any steelers fan that wants us to get rid of ben. that would just be stupid. i think maybe some people critiquing some areas of ben's play force tear ducts to well up then pour voraciously from the eyes of those who absolutely worship ben. the board has many personalities. there are the posters who provide objective criticism with no individual off-limits (for the sake of discussion) and there are those who have developed serious man-crushes on certain individuals and think nobody on the team or in the organization can do no wrong and go apeshlt any time anyone suggests somebody underthrew somebody or dropped a pass or missed a tackle or . . . whatever . . .

I love it. They said that Ben would have been an offensive lineman in the 50's or 60's. Ben is really a throwback type of QB. Before the west coast offense changed the position, QBs were football players. They weren't prissy little supermodels' playthings like Tom Brady. There's no way a guy like Brady, or Manning for that matter, would have been as successful in the pre-80's eras. Ben would have fit right in and kicked butt.

SO, that`s why Lambert wasn`t mentioned as being better than "Ray-Ray"...
Good video, and I liked hearing Ditka`s take on Butkus, etc...
Just wondered why Ray was considered the "best mlb of all time", without Lambert being mentioned...
I know he would be considered "small" physically, by today`s standards, and he would have to adjust his "style of play", big time, in today`s NFL... but I bet, he cold stilo find a way to intimidate...
Instead of complaining about having to hit players at the knees, ala Silverback...
He would have just done it!
    No remorse, no repent!
I love Harrison, for continuing the tradition, and admitting "my job is to hurt people"...
Jack Splat would have just refused to do interviews, adjusted to the rules, and taken opponent`s knees out...
No matter what you may think of him for that!!!
"I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest.... If you can`t take it, you shouldn`t play the game!"...
"If I could live my life over again, I would have been a professional football player... and you better damn well believe, I would have been a Pittsburgh Steeler!"...
(paraphrasing the H.O.F. speech, `cause i don`t remember it word for word...)
"Just put dresses on the quarterbacks, if they don`t wanna get hit"...
    (paraphrasing again)...
That is what the game should be all about, and Iove that we had a MAN, who wasn`t afraid to tell it like it is!!!
Silverback does, and he gets crucified in the media, for tellin it like it is...
    How times have changed...
and NOT for the better... IMHO!!!!
Here we go, STEELERS... here We go!!!
