It hit me today. The reason Ben isn't mentioned with them is he has too many games like todays. Having said that, I wouldn't trade his rings just to have him mentioned as elite
    They always mention

    name.............Number of rings
    Maning..........1
    E maning 2
    Breese 1
    Luck 0
    Rivers 0
    Rodgers 1 at our expense
Brady 3, 2 at our expense
    flacco 1
    kapernick 0
    Wilson 1
    Romo 0
    Ryan 0
Cutler 0 remember some here wanted to draft him?
    No thanks I'll keep Ben

Cutler is such a punk and I love watching him tank. He is one of the genuine jerks in the game. That dude will go to his presser tonight and act like he's the man. I remember a few years ago he talked smack in his presser about DeAngelo Hall AFTER throwing FOUR interceptions to HIM! He is maybe the most overpaid qb in the league. Jeff George 2.0.

It was equally asinine to point to 2 games and suddenly have the "Elite" conversation pop back up. Just this season he has had 2 "Elite" games. 3 poor games. 5 pretty good. Put all of that together, he's "Pretty Good". 2 "Elite" out of 10 doesn't make him e"Elite". Go back over his career and it's the same inconsistency.

I wasn't pointing to two games to say that he's an elite qb. I thought I made that clear in the next sentence. Over his career he has absolutely shown that he's a top qb. He would have been MVP in 07 if not for Brady's magical season. Just remember this conversation in a few years when he's gone and our line is still a mess and we are bottomfeeders. He's one of those guys that will be more appreciated later by some. To act like Ben is not a top 5 qb is ridiculous. He does things that don't show up on a stat sheet and that's really where his magic is at.

I agree with all you say. I have repeatedly said I am glad we have Ben. I just don't think he is "Elite". I apparently hold that word to a much higher standard. I think we are argueing semantics and consistency, not talent.

Folks, elite QB's win the majority of their games against teams with losing records.Elite Qb's put the team on their back and will them to win.

If I recall correctly you said Brown should be considered league MVP. Well, I guess his two fumbles has cost him that elite status also, good WR just don't do that against bad teams. Sarcasm!

Yep, those 2 fumbles could very well take him out of the MVP conversation. What's your point? No sarcasm.

Thank you. Peyton and Brady would have ran home crying to mommy and daddy if their team played around them the way that our team did for Ben Sunday.

The offense fell apart against the Jets. And that's just as much Ben's fault as everyone else's. If not more. He's the field leader.

I am still going to promote AB as mvp
material. He is the very best football player
on the Steelers roster. He is the only game changer we have on our roster. Lets look back as MT says the full body of work. Early season Ben's game just wasn't there. I like Ben R, but he ain't an elite QB. But I am glad he plays for the PGH Steelers.

McNabb and Favre are different types. Ben is a bigger Elway. Now every team is looking to draft a huge QB that is impossible to take down. Colleges are full of them and supplying the league. Everyone is looking for the next Roethlisberger who can sumo throw a DE off his back, run to the left, and complete the throw.

The huge they got, throwing, yeah they're there. It's the almost impossible to get on the ground that remains elusive. AKA Cam newton.

the one who touches the balls on every offensive move

Well well well. Elite quarterbacks would NEVER have a game like this, would they? Surely they would do better against the #17 defense in the league than a 1 TD, 2 INT performance, right? There's no doubt that they could score more than 7 measly points against the #27 scoring defense (28 ppg), right?

You could also file this under the Tomlin record against bad teams thread too.

Im sure they had "protection problem." Or maybe their idiot kicker ran his mouth. Or maybe the guy running the PA system was playing the music too loudly. :roflmao:

And today should put an end to the "Elite" discussion for now. Unless your definition includes highly inconsistent, ocasionally fantastic, occasionally horrible, and on average very good, so far he isn't Elite. I hope he does things, that I believe are within his ability, to change this in the games to come.

I'm sure having a hurt throwing hand/wrist had nothing to do with his performance today. ;-)

Nope. He didn't play well before that. Plus the hand/wrist doesn't account for poor mental decisions.
