Maybe Deion Sanders was right when he said he thinks Ben may retire this this season. I really don't know the seriousness of the injury but I have never seen Big Ben leave a game like this. -slick

Time to move on from Ben. Get him off the books and free up the expense to put other pieces together. Mason is capable and willing. And HUNGRY.

All good things must come to an end:( If I have to wait the same amount of time it took from Bradshaw to Ben I will never see another SB.

This needs to be a development year for Rudolph, Ben should be traded as soon as possible, he’s done

Ben was playing like trash. It’s not surprising he ended up “hurt”

Please let it be known........I love Ben and I will always remember what he did for us but his time has come. Ben's Jersey is the only one that I have that's still playing for the Steelers!! I will always be thankful of Ben if he retires.

The sad thing is I'm not at sure I'm buying this, but at the same time I'm not willing to totally discount it either.

He knows the D is trash. He was just looking for a excuse not to practice “Bensday” again

Are any of you old enough to remember Terry Bradshaw's early retirement from football?
I believe it was elbow problems. I am old enough to remember I just can't remember
his injury, I think TB tried, the elbow never healed.

He’s looked old for a while now, he knew the game so well that he was able to extend his career a few more years. He just looks tired now though.

Oh hell yeah!!!! Might not have liked him as a person outside of football but that matters not. The guy gave me 3 more Super Bowls to enjoy. I bought his jersey the day after we drafted him. I just knew he was the guy who would finally get us #5.

Guy took one hell of a beating in his career. Human body gonna break down. Tom Brady is just an oddity. Super rare to play like that at 42. Ben is not built like that.

THANK YOU BIG BEN!!!!!!!! Pretty sure he will be back under center at some point this season but it won't matter. This is not a playoff team.

They can’t trade him with that monster extension they gave him.

Mason looked great but it’s early days for him. We need Ben back at his best if the team is going to pick themselves up and make a playoff run

Because he sees he bit more off than he can chew. The team obviously will suck this yr and this is the first time ben hasnt had either a elite offense, elite defense, or both. And he knows based on what has just transpired all eyes are now on him. The gm, coach, and everyone associated with the steelers said we riding with him so ok ben carry this team. And hes not capable of it.

Thanks Ben for everything, but I'm good with Mason from here on out. This team might not even be that competitive so at least give him a year. Or maybe a repeat of 2004.
