I was just about to say exactly the same thing.

What this team really needs now is a healthy Bell.

 

If the o-line doesn't start blocking any better, it won't matter if we traded for adrian peterson

You can say that all you want....and maybe in the grand scheme of things its true....but the tape says differently....Dwyer had two fumbles in the preseason....after leading the team in rushing last year..as well as this preseason.....Redman ran for negative yards..and two fumbles in the first 6 carries.

If you are what your tape is...then Dwyer is the better back.....Until Redman puts better tape out there....and for someone who talked all wekk of "I could of played two weeks ago...my job is to not let them put someone else on the field".....blah blah blah...then was benched by half time....thats not good

personally hack, dwyer,redman and batch should have been gone and replaced by other players, before we even got to where we are. we seem to like these little quick RB's but only have one on the roster, knowing full well they won't hold up when we turn to them to carry us. wow, he ran well in one preseason game.

we have seen 4 years of redman and dwyer, neither of them deserve to be on this team as any more then 3rd string RB's and certainly not at 1.3 mil. a year on a money strapped club. it should have been fixed long before this.

 

I agree with both of you...YES...they probably should have cleaned house at RB before we got into this spot...but I guess they strapped their cart to Bell and figured the other guys as backups would work.

and I agree that Dwyer might not of fared much better today against the Titans defense...but I did see Dwyer perform better behind the same line against 4 other teams this preseason.

we just have to fix the o-line it's that simple. I worry now about what we do with pouncey. with a bad knee and bad ankles now, will we throw money at him to stay and can he ever be as effective as we need now for that money? fix the front 5 and we then can worry about seeing how good rb's are. right now we would need a guy that flys and I don't mean runs fast.

So in review, Redman had 2 fumbles and didn't do squat yesterday, LSH got injured AGAIN, and Jones didn't do jack.

Am I surprised ?? HELL NO, not the least damn bit.

 

I don't see how people can keep trying to argue against this. Dwyer has out-played Redman consistently (and not just this year).

The knock on Dwyer is his off-field stuff. Which maybe is worse than any of us know... but skill set wise, he's a better RB than Redman.

 

This is how I feel too. Is he AP? No. And Tomlin's great idea to sit Redman during the preseason because "we know what we have in Redman" was a ridiculously bad idea (which seems to be the norm with this coaching staff).

 

One thing for sure ...
there certainly is a hell of a lot of "crow" to be eaten in this thread.
