the above still explains it. Colbert wasn't happy with dwyer as the lead dog after last year. redman is the better pass blocker and pass catcher of the two.
they are very similar in running the ball.

bell and redman are the horses and LSH and jones are the change of pace guys. two and two of similar skillsets is what we have.

in haleys offense there is no clear cut starter/feature back as much as situational RB and backup types.

Initially I was in favor of keeping Redman over Dwyer; but really thought they'd end up keeping both, until Jones arrived. Once Jones did arrive, it was very obvious someone was leaving, be it Jones, Redman or Dwyer.

I think people's concern (at least mine) now is that none of the remaining RB's on the roster saw as much pre-season work as Dwyer did and also at the moment, Jones is apparently the really only the healthy one of the remaining backs (excluding Alexander on the practice squad).

Remember, LSH went out gimpy again in that last pre-season game, and there has been no real positive news on either Bell's or Redman's injuries. So fans are understandbly skidish at the moment and IMO rightfully so.

I think redman is fine and held out of the last preseason game for a couple of reasons.
    1. to be healthy for the start of regular season to team up with jones.
    2. to shop dwyer so we may get something for him. ( nobody wants him at the moment)

if LSH and bell are still hurt by game one, we may put spaeth on the IR/ return and alexander could be put on the active roster until someone else is healthy.

It came down to they liked what they saw from Jones and Dwyer became expendable, Dwyer fumbling didn't help his cause either.

Redman's been healthy. The coaching staff said as much, and Redman confirmed that. He was the #1 at practice today.

    Good and thanks.
Hope Redman practices a hell of lot, since he only had 2 attempts the entire preseason. :smiley1:

red and jones with another full week of practice will be a capable tandum to start us off. LSH should be able to go also I would think. will Johnson is my big concern right now.

    No problem.

It's not like he's a rookie who's missed all of camp.

I'm sorry, it just seems to me that we wasted what preseason is supposedly for ... especially with all of the preseason mantra about how the O-line and the RB's needed to get used to the new ZBS and all that. Just color me confused.

they are at practice a lot more then they are with them in stadium as MT would say. they know these guys well after 4 years. what we don't show other teams can be more important then what fans want to see. red won't forget how to play by not getting carries in a preseason game. we have given tenn. two carries by redman to see him in this scheme. the coaches have seen redman in practice in this scheme. they know what he brings.

I think it was a bad decision to part ways with Dwyer.

They better have got it right with Bell.

Even if they are wrong about Bell, is Dwyer really the answer? I think there is no risk letting him go.

Did I read a crawl on NFL Network earlier that Dwyer is signing with the Giants? Anyone else see that?

According to NFL.com he is getting a try-out with athe Giants along with Beanie Wells but they don't expect a signing till next week to avoid a guaranteed salary.

Dwyer reportedly worked out with the Giants today. Like Thorn said, no expected signing until next week if at all.

Scruffy, Redman did have some big flashes the last few years. I hope he jumps on this chance and has a great year.

Must be moldy bread since the Giants just lost their RB and still didn't sign Dwyer.

if he does sign with the giants, then he'd better get his act together. coughlin has even less patience with fumbling than tomlin has.
