I feel a little bad for Dwyer, he did work his ass off but come on, he must have knew he wasn't going to start here when they drafted Bell. Maybe he will get a chance to start elsewhere, he should be glad. And no, sorry Dwyer, I liked you but they certainly will not regret it.

    He tweeted this:

"This is just the beginning for me my future is bright and I have a chip on my shoulder and they will regret it.."

I'm indifferent on Dwyer, but at least he was available. Redman got 2 carries and usually is always hurt, but somehow makes the team?

Honestly, if Leveon Bell is everything we hope he is, both those guys are expendable.

Dwyer sounds like one of those people that get cut on American Idol and then talk about how people will be hearing from them and how American Idol will be sorry for not seeing the gem they had in their hands. A million people have said that. Their names are... ummm... uh.... well.... uh.... hmmmm.... well....

I am actually on Dwyers side....and hope he does well where ever he lands...

Until I see differently...he was the best back on the team.

I really don't get giving him ALL the carries in basically 4 games....might have been nice to get the actual guys you want to play on Sundays a little work.

I'm surprised he got cut as well and thought he would actually be starting but also I've got it in the back of my mind that we RARELY if EVER wind up really letting go of first rate talent by cutting them. So I think we'll be fine.

Yes... don't see them "regretting" it...as Bell is the guy they have latched their immediate future to....I would like to see Dwyer land and do well though

I don't understand how you throw some crap out there at your former team before you get picked up by anyone else. What a fool! Burn that bridge some more!

He worked hard. Maybe harder than he ever did before. I can see him feeling hurt over it.

Then again, they did give him a ton of opportunity to show what he can do. He'll land somewhere, and the interest he might have in him will come from all of those carries they gave him.

It's a business. Frankly, I'm puzzled over this too. But there wasn't anything personal going on. Once he has another job, he'll lighten up. Maybe?

There is a rumor the Steelers waited so long because they were trying to get something for him bit no team would even talk to them about it.

Even with these comments, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a Steelers uniform again - in a couple of seasons.

It's simple is he secured the ball he would be on the the team.

I liked some of what Dwyer did, he just wasn't consistent enough to be a great starter. As far as the Steelers regretting it, I'm sure they won't give it another thought.

No he wont really be missed. Too many issues with poor conditioning. Besides he was being shopped and no team was interested. What does that tell us? lol

steelers make no sense to me . they give him all the PS carries... hypen = hurt.... red= hurt..... jones.... hurt a lot.... tinker bell hurt after 4 carries... so dwyer got all the PS carries and thats who they cut.. he averaged 4 YPC in that final game... just makes no sense to me ...

Landry Jones was the best Steelers QB in the final game by far... doesn't make him the starter in Week 1.

Tomlin was supposedly on record saying he knew what we have in Redman and was going to sit him most of the Pre season. Bell is hurt but hes our future feature back and isnt going anywhere. LSH made some good runs and Jones (in my opinion has better vision then Dwyer) made some nice runs too, but he is a health risk. Dwyer was just too inconsistent, if we are going to have a running back by committee thing again this season until Bell returns, I like the group of guys this year then we used last year. LSH is a nice change of pace back with good vision and he seems to disappear behind the line and can squeak through some of the smaller holes.

the scoreboard adds up TD's and field goals, neither of which dwyer put on the board. how many TD's did dwyer have in 4 years? like 3. maybe it was his attitude. we,ve had a lot of guys over the years that got a lot of carries in the preseason only to be cut.

So, we essentially chose a first round bust in Felix Jones over a sixth round guy who did seem to have some upside and was working hard this preseason. Dwyer is not a fumbler. He's has two fumbles in over 200 career carries. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Dwyer has necessarily seized the bull by the horns, but he was the best back on the team now that Bell is out. Was this Tomlin cutting his nose off to spite his face again. We shall see...

Colbert was not happy with the run game last year when dwyer had his shot. I really think they're mind was made up and a fumble in each of the last two weeks by him sealed the deal. turnovers by the O last year really hurt us in the give away-take away column.

jones runs better in this new scheme, and is a closer match to LSH in skillset. I think MT saw some magic in the first game the way LSH ran in our new zone scheme.

red and dwyer are a closer match to each other and we had nobody else with that type of skillset between dwyer or redman, hence the jones pick. he did pretty well with no practice his first week. now we have two guys that are quick through the hole in this scheme.

I think the whole offense has been changed to a more quick type of player is what they are shooting for. (o-line,wr's,rb's)

there has been talk of how much quicker redman was in camp this year. pass catching out of the backfield is something I think they really want to do this year. redman was a good bit better at doing that and is THE best pass protector out of all the RB's.

I don't think there was a huge gap between the rb's as far as running the ball, so the blocking and pass catching and ball security made the final decision for them.

you have to remember if we install an offense built around guys like LSH and what he brings to the table and he gets hurt, that takes away a big chunk of what haley wants to do for the next week without a guy with similar skills behind him. that's jones. bell stands alone with redman a closer match to him.

Yeah I don't know, seems like they just wanted to get rid of him from the start.

I love Redman, but unless we go back to the Cowher days and feed a big back the ball all game, Redman isn't a great back to have in this new blocking scheme. Is he really a known commodity? I'm not so sure?

I'm a little concerned we got a rookie and a guy who just joined the team 2 weeks ago who will be helping to protect Ben on some pass plays.

redman isn't the big back he was a couple of years ago. he's lost weight the last two years. the difference being he kept his weight off and got much quicker. dwyer lost weight each of the last two years because he put weight on in the offseason. even bell is 10 lbs. lighter then he was at mich.st..
