Dwyer only had 16 attempts in 2011 for 123 yards, but 76 came on a single run in the Tennessee game. He had 11 carries for 107 in that route of the Titans (split carries with Redman that game). Ben had 5 TDs that game.

Not sure he started, but didn't he take one to the house from 70 or 80 yards against TN?

Finnigan caught him on the 76 yard run, so no TD. I do not think he has scored a TD in the NFL yet.

Dwyer looks for the contact and that will wear on a defense. at the end of his runs he was lowering his shoulder and wanted to run guys over. most of the Cincy defensive players were trying to get out of his way.

its too early to call him the next Bus, but he always makes the most of his playing time.

As long as Mendenhall is injured, of course Dwyer should be the starter. He is just by far a better runner than Redman. I like Redman's hard running style but Dwyer is just a more polished RB. He has superior vision, he can catch the ball (*cough* Batch *cough*) and he is a very good pass protector.

People tend to forget that most regarded Dwyer as a 1st round prospect after his sophmore season. What hurt him was Georgia Tech's scheme and the failed drug test at the combine. I still think he could stand to improve his conditioning. I love the fact he is looking for contact 20 yards down the field but I'd rather see him try and outrun the safety, not just run through him.

IN saying all this, Mendenhall is the choice if he is healthy. Other than vision, he has higher attributes across the board compared to Dwyer or any of our other RBs.

I think Batch should be de-activated once Mendenhall comes back. I'm comfortable with Mendenhall, Dwyer, Redman & Rainey. I don't care that Batch plays ST and made some nice blocks in last year's training camp. I'm tired of watching him plow into the back of one of our OL for a 2 yard gain.

I think Batch is the ST captain though doubt he will be de-activated.

LOL. Because our ST is so awesome you can't deactivate the ST captain...

There is no special team captain this year...just Ben and Keisel.

I agree with the running into the back of the OL...he's had some good runs/etc...and is an OK player (that will get better with time)...but at this point Dwyer is better than him.

    Re: I am convinced

Yes! He doesn't try to get cute when he knows his time is up, he draws a laser bead on the nearest defender and closes in for the assault. I love that mentality!

He tore his quad during preseason. I read that he just tried out for the Bengals last week, and I think he's got other teams scheduled for workouts.
