Dwyer Benched?

    Sounds like the media got in Tomlins head so to show he has control he benches someone. Someone in his mind isnt a key asset to the team. Ok he fumbled I ll give him that. But it was the raiders, 'worse team in the nfl' at the time. That one fumble shouldnt have caused a loss.

    I m in management. And whether people like to admit it or not there has to be some kind of fear imposed by the manager. Tomlin doesnt impose fear. The players dont fear him or the recourse of screwing up. I m sure I ll get flamed for this but it is what it is.

    This is how i heard it...he was supposedly benched for the 1 game...but the next game was just a numbers thing (as it will probably be most of the time when all 5 are healthy).

    Dwyer will be back and practicing/playing...many players throughout the year get excused for personal reasons...be it family stuff...and so on, its not a big deal...if it wasnt legit he wouldnt have been excused.

    Jonathan Dwyer missed Wednesday's practice for "personal reasons" and will return Thursday.Dwyer isn't hurt, and with Rashard Mendenhall and Ike Redman both failing to suit up Wednesday, he's currently in line for another start.     I doubt he would Tomlin_Era but from the play we have seen lately how could it actually hurt haha. If he is not on the field we don't have to be punished watching Ben go to him and then the inevitable Mikey 7 drops

    Thing is for me at least I believe Mike has caused more harm then good as of late because when he is out there he is a target for Ben . If he was not out there Ben throws to someone without the dropsies. Of course this is purely speculation and anything could happen.

    Sounds like you're implying Tomlin should have benched Bettis for his weight as not to show favoritism? How was he suppose to do that? :scratch:

    @ Diamond, sounds like your dislike for Tomlin is getting in the way of objective opinion. Might Tomlin be trying to get the most out of Dwyer? Given the way Dwyer ran on Sunday, I'd say the benching had the desired effect.

    @ Buss, until this past game, Wallace was playing pretty good wasn't he? I didn't look it up but thought he was doing pretty good. The Eagles game I give him a pass, lot of people were having trouble holding onto the ball that game. If his drops continue then maybe he will bench him, yet to be seen.

    I doubt it was one fumble that really got him benched, it may have been something he was doing and the fumble was the last straw. I'm not going to speculate but I think the coaches know more about the players than we do.

    Wallace might not take to well to it,but he is on that list. There is no one else that could use some motivation? I can think of one or two guys on the DL that fit the crime,and also have viable replacements.

    Now we're just getting into a whole bunch of speculation and a fans interpretation on how a player should be performing. The only other person I can think of that is a clear cut case would be Ike and he bounced back last week. I also don't think Tomlin's decision is based solely on a bad game but on what he see's in practice and a players effort and preparedness, things that a fan has no idea about. It's just nonescense to think Tomlin is playing favorites. Maybe Tomlin had corrected something about the way Dwyer carries the ball and it wasn't getting through to him which warranted the benching, we simply don't know.

    Dance with the one that brought ya! I know when Mendy comes back it's his gig but as for now I'm all about some Jonathan Dwyer. ESPECIALLY if the line is gonna block like they did in this last game.

    Yeah that would be sweet. I think Dwyer is the more punishing runner of the two. So we could let Mendy wear them down with his speed and then let Dwyer come in fresh and just run over 'em. Oh man I'm getting a fuzzy feeling inside by just typing that. How long has it been since we can say that we've had a guy that would run over people? I'm thinking basically since Super Bowl 40. We've had some guys to run BY people but it's been forever since we've got to consistently watch someone run OVER people. THAT'S what I wanna see.
