weight that is.:smiley1: both down 20 lbs.. james may have a much bigger role if green doesn't get on the field early. we all know ben likes to be very familiar with his receivers. grimble should move up in the pecking order too. he can stretch the seam some also. as for dupree, we will see. if he lost fat and can keep the muscle, it should help his quicks. same for james.

i'm so glad it's here now. folks it's football season 2016 version. :smiley1::smiley1::cool:

Dupree could afford to lose 20 pounds, his roster weight is listed at 6-4 269, he said he tired out and was sluggish in the latter half of the season last year, as a pass rusher 250 is a better weight for him, 270 was a little too heavy for him, he will be quicker and harder to block at 250. James roster weight 6-7 261 was about right for a tight end with his height, he may be quicker in passing routes but at 241 his blocking ability may be sub par due to his weight loss......

i agree about james but it depends what they want to do. with nix in the backfield or the use of the two back sets, it may mean using him as more of a chip guy and getting him down field more. all of our backs are good blockers in the passing game which allows the use of our TE's to be more wr like. they may be going for more of the speed aspect. we will find out soon enough. dupree still looks built well enough with his weight loss from seeing him on the steelers site.

Joey Porter probably influenced Dupree to drop weight, Porters playing weight was 250, but james is the similar size of Gronkowski and I think 240 is too light for a 6-7 TE......

Maybe it will lead to Dupree being quicker off the edge.

It's unbelievable that it's almost football season again. My little boy asked me the other day while I was watching the Cubs when I was gonna start watching the Steelers again and my wife said "in just a few weeks" and it hit me how close we really are to seeing this team on the field again. Time is flying. It only seems like yesterday my little boy was born and now he's starting kindergarten in just a few days. Unreal.

If he learns to take better angles he's gonna be a quarterback killer. We all need to keep our fingers crossed!

The thing about roster weights is that they often don't change after the player is weighed and measured for the first time. Ben has been listed at 6-5 240 for his entire career, but probably hasn't been south of 250 since his rookie year. Timmons was listed at 6-1 234 at the scouting combine, and that's been his official roster weight ever since. He's at least 250. We really don't know what James' actual weight at the beginning of camp last year was for comparison to the 20 lb loss. He may have gotten to around 270-275 before dropping 20. I hope that's the case, because I agree that 241 would be too light for him.

Apparently Jarvis Jones lost weight as well... I read that he played last season around 270 lbs. Too and is down to 250

Plus, for these guys, when they get motivated, 20 pounds lost, is typically 30 pounds lost and 10 pounds of muscle gained. Or better.
