I was talking about Cortez Allen

as for Cotchery every time I see him on the field the guy catches everything, isn't his fault they put butter fingers out there instead ( wallace)

we have TE's , FB and Rb's who can catch the ball too, we don't need a 100 receivers, Haley likes to spread the ball around. (ask cry baby Wallace he'll tell you)

about Favre I was pointing out how he made it to 40, the painkillers addiction probably added 5 years to his career

It's not much of a QB draft class, but if I were drafting a QB this year, Mike Glennon NC State would be my choice: He has up side potential and size 6-6 232 with a gun arm, he is projected number 5 so he could be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round, I think he could be groomed for the future and turn out pretty good for us...

Glannon will go in the first round, before our pick at 17.

just because 2 other guys did it doesn't make it so for everyone. ben has been injured alot by his hits. all sacks are not equal. i'd say ben has 3 productive years left to win it all. he may play a 4th and 5th but i see it declining by then. knowing ben he could be 60 with two broken arms and he would say he's ok to play. it doesn't mean at the level we need.

when ben doesn't get full reps all week in practice , he has bad games. this is something i've noticed over the years from him. that's why on short weeks he likes to revert to the no huddle and calling plays from the previous OC, because he is more comfortable with it. he knows it. he is a rep player.

Actually, I only gave you 2. I'm basing it on something real, you guys are pulling this stuff about Ben being almost done out of thin air, Ben has 5 years, minimum. I agree that Ben isn't very effective when he tries to play through his injuries, the substantial ones I mean, but who is?

yea i've seen that before and it means nothing. not every sack and not every player is the same. not every injury is the same.

all i know is ben has played one full season since he's been here, why not draft a good young qb thats almost guarenteed some action every year.

we don't know how ben will react to injuries down the line or past ones that take there toll on him. ben will be 31 when next year starts. i said ben will have 3 more good years and play possibly a 4th and 5th. that puts him at 35 and 14 years in the league.

he's not going to be getting better in those last two. at least i doubt it. 4 years from now we can acess both ben and the backups. bens already signed so theres no worry of him leaving. why not have an option that we groomed from day one ready to step in when it's time, or those games when bens out. if landry jones is sitting there in the 2nd or 3rd, i sure have to think about it. there's nothing wrong with a strong backup.

Why? you say there is only a 3 year window to win a super bowl, but want to draft a back up Qb in round 2? Makes no sense...
    and is very contradictory

If we want to compete then we draft for needs in other positions not something that we can get cheap through FA... sorry if Ben goes down we aren't winning the super bowl anyway regardless of who the back up is...

Of course, anyone can get hurt at any time but I'm not wasting a draft pick on what if's. Yeah, Ben has only played 1 full season, 4 of them he played 15 games, two seasons he played in 12 games and one of those seasons was due to his suspension and not injuries and this season he missed 3 games, his first season he didn't start until the 3rd game. It's not like he's racking up a bunch of missed games that warrants spending a draft pick on a backup QB that will barely see the field. When I said Ben will play another 5 years, I meant at a high level, start looking for his replacement in another 3 years.

Well I can tell you this. In Knoxville Tyler Bray is public enemy number 1. He's a crybaby and he throws picks like crazy. I don't even like college football but UT is all that's ever talked about around here.

don't forget all the ones he plays hurt and ineffective in. i just don't know why anyone would be against a good young backup? i love how washington did it. franchise and a good young backup.

I think Colbert's comments basically meant: we'd never tip our hand as to what our draft interests are. I think if someone asked him about drafting a kicker, he'd have said the same thing.

Of course a QB could be on the draft radar. Batch is 38 and Leftwich is...well Leftwich, and quite possibly not coming back. It's possible they'll spend a mid-round pick on a backup, but they'll likely just pick up a UDFA when it's all said and done IMO.

But the backup will only play in the games that Ben physically can't go, so having a backup won't change anything with Ben playing hurt, you've seen how reluctant coaches are to pull their starters. Redskins have a good backup and didn't even pull RG, and he was hurt bad. Right now I just feel we have too many other positions that need to be addressed to be using a pick on a backup. Would I love to have one? Sure, but don't think we can afford to do that now, Id pick up a FA.

i understand what colbert was saying, and i don't expect them to draft one either but stranger things have happened and ther are a few good qb's in this draft. if one falls to the 3rd they may grab one. who knows? i really think it's time to say goodbye to charlie and lefty. i'd like to have the same type of comfort knowing a guy we have had in our system is available instead of bringing in another FA every year. i think we have to keep at least one guy in the pipeline for an extended period even as a backup. who knows we might get lucky and find a guy worthy when ben hangs em up.

They aren't drafting a qb in the first round this year this team has too many needs and this years draft class is weak for qb's. I could see them taking one in the middle rounds though.

If we go into next year with Methuselah Batch and Rip Van Winkle Leftwich as our backup QBs, I will jump out of my bedroom window kicking and screaming! :x
