He simply isn't. Wilson averaged 15 yards a game more than Fields (rushing+passing) when you take into account their regular season starts... Russell had a really good game against the Bengals and a hot start vs. the NY teams. His Commanders, Ravens at home, and last 6 games of the season (including the WC loss) were absolutely terrible. That stretch of football was far worse than the 6 games that Justin put together to start the season. We can't kick Wilson to the curb fast enough.

There generally aren't good options at QB in the FA period. Really good QB's get locked up to deals. There are a few that slip through the cracks (Baker), but mostly there's not a lot. Of the FA QB's Darnold and Fields are the best two. Darnold will be more expensive than Fields, but Justin is more than fine as a bridge QB. Nobody is saying to sign Fields to a 5 year 40+ million a year contract. Give him 2-3 years around 15 million a year and figure out the QB position in the draft during that time...

At least read the post of you are gonna respond to it.
I posted, "some of you", you argue 5%? Wouldn't that be 'some of you'?

The biggest point I was trying to make is why put it in every thread? There is no reason to get the 'fire Tomlin' crowd in every discussion. Talking draft? Tomlin sucks! It's killing any fun conversations we COULD have on here. It doesn't require constant repeating.

Ward and Sanders will go top 10. One of Milroe, Ewers, and Dart will probably go in the first round and the other two will be second rounders. Howard, McCord, and Leonard will be 3rd round or later.

Personally I think Howard is underrated. Kid has size, can move, has a good arm, reads the defense pretty well, throws with good accuracy, is a leader, and has a good bit of swagger. If we take a mid-late round guy, I think he is the one I look at. I could definitely see him working out as a starter in the league.

McCord isn't a slouch either, but he strikes me as more of a Gardner Minshew type career guy. Spot starter on a few teams, great back up to have. I don't really love Leonard. Milroe is boom or bust. Dart feels pretty similar to Bo Nix, could surprise in the right system. Ewers is a tough read too, as he is bad under pressure, just an ok arm, and a true pocket guy. Could be another Kenny Pickett.

I did read the post, not sure why the first sentence has to be an insult?

"some of you" can mean a lot of things. You put it out here because you deem that number to be more than just a couple. If Tomlin wins a SB, there are only going to be a couple of "still haters".

I agree that it gets overstated and brought into many discussions. But the "fire Tomlin" crowd is going to be larger than in years past and more vocal too. The number one frustration with the team is coaching, and I think that it is justified. If you don't want to deal with it, then just don't engage with them. There are plenty of people on here willing to engage in Steelers conversation that doesn't involve MT.

Fair analysis. Dart is the one that intrigues me the most, probably because he could be available at 21. But I'd hope they'd do their due diligence as opposed to reaching. I'm quite fine with rolling out Fields and letting him sink or swim. If he swims, we have our QB for the next ten years, if he sinks we should be in a good position to draft our guy in 26.

I think he will be available barring a huge draft rise. I actually think Dart and Howard have a lot of the same skills. Both are primarily shotgun passers, both can run, have a good arms, and are really nice in the intermediate and deep parts of the field. I like both of their swagger too. I think Dart might be a better runner than Howard when improvising, but Howard is the type of guy you run QB power with in short yardage and goal to go situations (and I'm not sure Dart is that guy but I could be wrong).

I'd be fine with Dart, but we simply cannot trade Pickens if that is the case. I really want us to have good weapons around a rookie QB to have the best shot at success. We likely aren't upgrading our WR room in a meaningful way if we trade Pickens (just too hard to do it). Pickens is a better player than every available FA and unless we are trading picks or drafting with our first pick, then we aren't going to get a lot better at WR without GP.

I completely understand people being 'more vocal'. I really do. Example of what I'm talking about. This is a thread about Justin Fields possibly being our QB going into the 2025 preseason. Do you honestly think it's out of line for me, or anyone, to ask the anti-Tomlin posts to remain in those threads about that, and to talk about Justin Fields possibly the QB going into the 2025 preseason in this thread?

    Side note:
I'm not going to debate with you what the word 'some' means. Other than to say yes, more than 2.

Well, I wasn't trying to debate the use of the word "some"... Just the way that you worded your post, it definitely read like you felt like there was going to be a larger portion than just a couple folks. That is all. I made an argument on what you said not being the case, and instead of refuting it I got corrected on what you meant by "some". That is how we got here....

As for the thread... yeah, it theoretically should be possible to have a conversation around the possibility of Fields being the QB in 2025 without mentioning Tomlin. However, as the head coach, Tomlin is going to be a huge part of the decision making in all parts of the team building process. So, it is kinda hard to talk about the Steelers and not speak on something Tomlin isn't heavily involved in. There are always going to be people that bring him up. Just the way it is unfortunately.

That being said, what are your thoughts on Fields being the QB next season? Something you're in favor of? What would your ideal offseason be regarding QB?

Why? For the higher draft pick?

Tomlin went with Wilson because he thought that gave him the best chance at a fast track playoff run (the established HOFer with seemingly still something left in the tank). Also why he wanted to cast KP to the side. Now that fails, and he going with Fields tells me theyve given up on a playoff run (unless Fields learns to read defenses and improves quite a bit in one offseason which i doubt) and are eyeing drafting a Qb in 26. And i think theres a high likelihood thats it for Tomlin at that point and the new Qb grows under a whole new HC and staff.

he should just resign now imo.

well these threads kind of go hand in hand. it just shows with fields back that nothing will change. fields is not the answer. he's convenient. since the last 5 games, everyone forgets how limited the offense was with fields. yes he can run and i believe somehow MT feels he can be his poor mans lemar jackson. i have watched him through college and he is at his ceiling. one read, slight glance at the second read and look to run. he's not lemar. he's not jayden daniels. he's not even cj stroud. i don't want russell back either. they need to start the search and quit trying to be safe and convenient. MT does live in his fears and all the other confusion going on in his just above average approach. ask yourself this, would a new head coach that came in make this same decision with the blank slate we have at QB right now? i'll leave it at that.
