Well Teams confused at the QB spot wanting to see if they can make the RPO game work for them, this limits the risk that Team has to take .. A NFL player that don't make waves does have value...Reports from Teams they appreciate that level of maturity from him..

I agree but that could help if no better options are available.. He does have upside as a RPO QB not as much in a run, run, pass Offense..

maybe? If the going rate is higher though and we really want him, then I am sure that we'd pay it. It is better to go in with Fields at a slightly higher number than we want instead of being forced to go in with a worse QB at a better price.

Recent odds for starting quarterbacks in 2025 on the Steelers. I would say the most recent, but this seems to be a topic that changes several times a day....lol

    In order, Cousins 500, Rogers 550, Fields 550, Darnold 600, Millroe 800

I need one of them to find my remote, beer, and phone.
Instead I have an overgrown Lab who only seems to find tennis balls.

Mine offers to manually clean all dishes and remove all napkins.

And by 'offer' I mean 'insist'.

At least yours finds the tennis balls... My Aussies intentionally push the tennis balls under the couch so I can go get it for them and throw it.

I was doing work at a school district where the grounds keeper would collect tennis balls the kids hit over the fence and were too lazy to go get. He gave me a bushel basket of them for my dogs.

I had 4 large dogs at the time (strays, rescue and rejects)

I brought the bushel basket home made the dogs sit and dumped out the bushel basket in my great room.

Mayhem broke out. It was great. :smiley1:

The really big question people should be asking if they keep Fields, which is not a given.
What will the compensation be for him for say 2 year bridge contract? I fully expect
Steelers to go all in on the QB position in 2026 when supposedly better players at the QB position.

Pretty sure an early experience at my folks' place spoiled any chance of mine becoming a beer retriever. I have a picture somewhere of him getting ahold of an empty can of my dad's Natural Light as a pup. Since then he shows no interest in beer, but every wine cork pop he magically appears wanting said cork. He also enjoys ice cubes from mixed drinks, (a call of 'booze cubes' quickly summons him). But no interest in beer.

My father has subsequently been informed he'd been banned from exposing any four-legged members of the family to his choice of lagers.

I have no idea the amount he gets offered in the market, that seemingly another team is interested makes that amount go up. If the Jets are that (or one of those) teams, it would make sense to give him more on a multi year deal, continue to build your team and see where it goes. If he sucks you they lose, if they use the draft right they can get and store picks for next year and go after a better Rookie. Honestly wish we were in that position, quit seeing this team as a guy away and re-build instead of re-tool.

Player's, QBs especially, that can handle adversity, including benching, have a maturity level that does give them value for teams.

They were discussing this on the radio PA sports network this morning. That amount as definitely went up, but I really don't know it they have a real vision. As much as I hate the Eagles, the way they have constructed things deserves respect. 3 SB with 2 wins in 7 years and a team that looks like it could be in a completive window for several more is impressive. Their last 3 years the top 3 picks each year contribute, they trade and use FA well. they may face CAP hell in a couple of years by the way they use bonus structure, but they seem to know when to move on and have someone to plug in with few issues. I hope they don't spend a fortune, but also do not want us to trade value picks for an aged QB or sign an expensive older guy and stay in this mediocrity.

If it reach's Baker money (doubtful. but who knows) on a 3 year deal then you have to consider it, have a plan and ride it out, still something you can get out of after a year, not going to kill the CAP if you find your guy in 26 and he sits a year.

Especially after the off field and locker room crap the Jets have been through, the players seems to love Fields and has their respect, that goes a long way.
