Sounds like the plan is to let Wilson walk and JF become the starter. I think it’s the better move but still doubtful Fields can be a legitimate starter in this league. He is too inaccurate and slow processing the field. Wish we would have just let him play out the full year last season but hindsight is 20/20.

I would be okay with this move and maybe take a flyer on a QB in the draft.

No serious contention for us until we get a franchise QB.

At least we know we can win it all when we get one. Look at loser organizations like the Chargers. They had Fouts and they now have Herbert. They have nothing to show for it.

I have no problems with this. It's a win/win IMO.

I would like to see them draft someone as Fields is a long shot to pan out but overall I agree, this is the best available option and then draft a QB in 2026 moving up if you have to.

The mere fact Dulac said this makes it unlikely

Play the season out with JF, donlt bother drafting a QB this year - go all in to draft a 1st round QB next year, ideally we'll go 2-15 and dump Tomlin too.

While there’s not many, if any, first round talents there are plenty of early/late mid-rounders to take a flyer on (Dart, Leonard, Ewer, Howard, McCord)

I think Dart is going to go higher than people think because this QB class is weak, he might have the most upside.

Wouldn’t have mattered. Terry wasn’t right but he also wasn’t wrong.

Everyone knows Bradshaw is a Tomlin contrarian. The fact that when Tomlin made the switch, he said that is why he is paid big bucks. Well, how did it turn out in the end? How about some accountability.

Most pundits thought it was a bad decision. He was hardly alone in that.

So he said what Tomlin said?

    I don't see the issue.

How did it turn out in the end?

    Badly.

Do you allow Fields to go back to his #1 jersey if he comes back?

I think the way Justin Fields handled his benching this year, Rooney should allow Fields to wear the number he has worn all his life, if he wants to.

That is unless Arthur Smith takes him to New York. :)

unless there is a complete overhaul in the coaching staff we wouldn't have anyone who could develop a Qb on this team

Russell Wilson is a way, way, way better QB than Justin Fields. This is just a ridiculous mistake... but, one that will move Tomlin closer to being traded next year... so there is a silver lining. Justin Fields is "fool's silver" (not even fool's gold). Having said that...the Steelers are going nowhere under Tomlin unless they strengthen the OL, get a real DC, and bring in some skills OFFENSIVE players (through the draft, free agency, trade, etc.). So having Russell or Field's won't really matter as long as no real changes take place. Still can't believe we are going to trade George Pickens, one of the most talented WR in the entire NFL, for a 4th Rd pick (I'm calling it now). Just goes to show how ridiculous keeping Tomlin has become. The SAME Tomlin that kept Matt Canada two additional years... only to watch Kenny Pickett lead the Steelers offense to the first 400 yard game, on the road, the first game after Canada was booted. Patience for Canada... but not Pickens... Tomlin special!

If the Steelers somehow win the SB next season, some of you would still spew hate for Tomlin. A HC change will be made at the end of this contract. Be patient. Enjoy life in the meantime. Go touch some grass.

Come on, that's hyperbolic at best... The biggest "hatred" for Tomlin stems from us getting absolutely sh*t on in 6 straight playoff games. Half of the people who "hate" Tomlin would be ready to carry him to the HOF if he won another SB for us. This is simply not true. Maybe 5% of people who "hate" Tomlin would still "hate" him after a SB win, but 95% would love him again. If the reason why we dislike him is fixed.... then why would we still dislike him?

Patience is a virtue, for sure... but when a coach gets blown out in 5 straight playoff games and earns an extension that makes him the 5th highest paid coach in all of American professional spots, it is definitely a signal that winning in the post-season isn't all that high up on ownership's priority list. If Tomlin can keep us the slightest bit above average and win zero post season games, Rooney is going to try to extend him. Simple as that. I think your "coaching change at the end of the contract" is pretty optimistic. There simply is no guarantee that is going to happen, and if we keep throwing 50 million bucks around for 9-8 seasons... why would Tomlin want to leave? I know I wouldn't want to leave a job with massively high pay and reasonably low expectations.
