....cause I think Mesko has played worse overall, at least it has been a wash, definitely not worth the signing at the last second.

Call drew back. We bring everyone else back. Another failed mistake isn't going to matter at this point. Go ahead and eat some crow. Give him a call.

I heard he lost the Q-ball to the pool table in one of Mike Adam's fat rolls...

I think the mesko haters must have long term memory loss.

no he certainly hasn't been lighting things on fire, but the net avg diff between mesko this year and butler in 2012.... 1 yard. Not exactly an overwhelming difference to overcome.

butler finished 28th in net avg yards last year, yeah I know mesko is 31st, but those differences are negligible. I can't blame the coaches for wanting to improve the 28th ranked punt game, but let's not go thinking butler was the second coming of his father.

So true. The only plus is that he might be cheaper and he's younger.

I have no idea why we got rid of Butler. I am not a fan of Mesko but, even if his stats are similar to Butler's, why bring in a punter who is equal to the one already on the roster? If the guy isnt significantly better, and he isnt, why make the move at all?

I haven't had the fortune to watch all the games, but punting results don't just lie on the punter.... what about coverage teams? Special teams coaching? Mesko's numbers looked better in previous years at new england. But I can't speak for ball placement or control, that's something only the coaches would see from tape and discussions. To me this punting dilemma is nothing more than perception. Should it be improved? Yes. But we aren't losing games because of our punter.

Maybe I'm way off here, but on Suisham's two missed field goals, did Mesko's holds seem to be tilted too much to the right?

I agree. Maybe because we have bigger issues to worry about but the punting doesn't seem bad to me

I think his numbers were better at NE when we signed him.

He had a bad punt yesterday, that happens. We would like them to be perfect, but they aren't. Brown let a catch go through his hands that ended up being an interception. Heath dropped a touchdown pass. Brown missed a nice throw along the sidelines. Ben got lucky with the defensive holding or would have had another interceptions. Some things are forgivable. Being an olineman and not being able to block, not so much. The more time this team spends looking for a new punter is time they could have invested in getting their punt coverage better or scouting a better oline
