If the Steelers are looking for a guy with experience as a OL coach, they should look into him, his Jacksonville teams were run first teams.

I agree. This seems like a smart hire. I like the thought of having a position coach with HC experience. Jags were terrible but were able to turn James Robinson into a star, as a rookie that no one knew about.

Doug Marrone owned and slapped the Steelers with an inferior Jags team in 2017. I'm all for it. Hell... who doesn't own and slap the Steelers around in December and January?

I’d be all for this as well. Would he not be looking for at least a coordinator role though? OLine coach would be a huge step back for him.

I would not be against him, they need to get back to a physical style of play

He is an old school guy, he would bring some toughness back the line.

Imagine owning Tomlin in the playoffs then take a demotion to work under him. We need a rule for this one.

That inferior Jags team had the #1 defense in 2017, and a good running game.

I don't think teams are looking for a older guy like him as OC, it seems most teams are looking for the younger innovative guys as OC.

I am not sure exactly how a coordinator fits in or considered to be hired by a team. Do they complement what the overall strategy and concept envisioned by the HC? Do they bring in their own offensive strategy that they are familiar with and their new team adopts (or buys) what he is selling? I tend to think it is the former because I still think that the HC is the ultimate one who determines what this team does and how. I therefore I believe anyone who is hired will have a difficult time being successful and actually achieve change when the Steelers HC runs a team like an undisciplined school yard with a offensive philosophy of whatever Bens wants, Ben gets. A new coordinator should expect to have the backing of his boss and I just find that hard to imagine with how things have been over the past several years.

Marrone didn't last long as a head coach anywhere (including Syracuse) and he leaves a disaster in his wake.
OL coach might be more his speed.

I was looking for some info on the Titans interview with Austin and an old blurb popped up about them hiring Haslett for the ILB coach position last year. While it has been a while since he was a HC, it just shows how these guys continue to pop in and out at different levels.

And the league basically let their DBs grapple people all the way up until 1/2 way through the Pats game when Queen Marsha was in danger of losing

I'd take Marrone in a heartbeat. I am worried that they will just promote Adrian Klemm. I'd like someone with more NFL experience.

I'd also draft Harris in Round 1. This draft will be deep in OL that can be picked in Rds. 2-4. This draft isn't deep with RB's.

You don't want him as the head coach, Jacksonville & Buffalo fell apart under his watch.

Alabama probably has more money available for their assistant coaches.
