Maybe something happened or was discovered after he was drafted. Who know?
They're trying to develop Dri Archer and Landry Jones and all everyone does is complain and want them gone? The cut Grant and he didn't get a fair shake.
    Can't have it both ways.

Ethan Hemer and Shayon Green have been released from the PS to make room for Grant and Chickillo. Maybe the Steelers knew what they were doing all along now they only have to pay Grant and Chickillo a 1/4 of what they were going to make on the 53.

I know, but they didn't. You're acting like they should have traded up for Rowe, because there's no difference in cost between trading up for him and trading up for Golson. But there is a difference: in reality, they would have had to trade up for Rowe, and they didn't have to for Golson. They may have been thinking about it, but ultimately they decided not to and got him anyway. You can say you'd rather have Rowe than Golson, but understand that means you sacrifice Jesse James.

Who the heck cares about Jesse James? Rowe is probably a better NFL prospect he at least has the measurables you want in a CB.

Well if grant cleared and is on ps that tells me all I need to know. If nobody else wanted him maybe it was a good move

He still may be susceptible to being signed to someone's 53. Anyway, glad he was signed to the PS.

I'll be keeping an eye on Rowes career. I wanted us to draft him so badly.

Hey, I had Rowe ahead of Golson on my list, too. Throwing away James and Golson for Rowe is a totally valid opinion. But understand the Steelers didn't simply select Golson over Rowe. They chose not to give up a 5th, or possibly a 4th rounder. That's different from your original post.

Yeah, from a "Yankee`s" perspective, (at least, mine, and most that I know)..

We view the SEC as a powerhouse.

We respect the abundance of talented teams in the division,

Just feel disrespected by the percieved "media love", for the division, when we feel we have plenty of talent in the Big 10, etc...

Damn media gives no love to the "Heartland/ Birthplace of football," etc..

Right or wrong, we feel slighted, hard to believe "Y`all", have almost the opposite point of view...

Do you watch the same media,(ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports, etc)... we do???

And see NO love for the SEC???!!!

Kinda funny, if we all read the same stories, and take completley opposite meanings from it...

All depends on where ya live, I guess...

Kinda a microcosm of the country in general, I guess...

Aside from all that, and to the topic at hand,

I HAVE to believe that Doran Grant showed some kind of "character issues" at Pittsburgh, that I never heard of, from his time as a Buckeye...
He was always praised up here, by the coaching staff, and local media.

I saw his play on the field, and while I am no coach...
He looked above average, to me...

Maybe not the best CB ever, but better than what we currently have, IMHO...

There HAS to be something that happened "behind closed doors", to make him fall out of favor, so fast...
We will probably never know, but it definitely leaves me scratching my head!

    GO STEELERS!:steelflag:

    p.s.
Glad to hear he made it to our practice squad...
I`m really surprised no other team took him..
There has to be something I am missing on this, and it`s NOT just that "he isn`t that darn good"...

What we're all missing is that a team would have to really want that guy and have the glaring need to come get them. Enough so that they would be willing to risk losing a guy they had plans for and reshuffling their rosters a week before the season.

It's time for DB coach Carnell Lake to develop a young prospect and coach these guys up.

Dang, I thought Hemer had some upside. Antonio Johnson and his 6 reps on the bench not so much.

Man that is so funny to hear you say that you feel like the SEC gets all the love and the Big 10 all the hate because my wife is a big SEC fan and when I asked her about it today she said "I just think they never give the SEC credit..." LOL!!! When I get to work tomorrow and tell people that some of my Steeler buddies that like the Big 10 say they feel like the SEC gets all the love their heads will probably explode. LOL!

The perception from ESPN and the other major outlets that the SEC has the sleeker, faster, more exciting athletes and the Big 10 has slow, plodding bruisers, which makes it almost impossible for them to compete with those Southern and West Coast powerhouse teams. Which is why I found Ohio State's run last year so sweet. I felt like they made them all eat their words and maybe rethink their perceptions.

Just as the article suggests KC & MT are killing us with
their drafting. I think the Steelers will resign him if he clears waivers.

It's totally different up here. Most people up north understand that the SEC is the best and resent it. The SEC hate is abundant.
ESPN is called "the SEC network" round these parts haha it's funny how different people hear/see the same thing and comprehend it in a polar opposite way

I agree totally because to hear people down here tell it ESPN never talks about the SEC unless they just happen to do a special on trailer parks and oxycontin or something. LOL!

Agree. I have not seen him actually develop any of our players to date. Perhaps William Gay but William seem to get better after leaving and going with Arizona

Incorrect. Gay completely turned his game around under Lake, he left, his play dropped a little, came back, play picked back up.

What about Blake and the other guy we just lost to Miami, whom they should have kept? Got the most out of those guys too.

Fact is, you can't turn crap into gold every time.

I agree mostly. I'd like to see some of our draft picks turn out better though. I know gay was a pick, but Burnett, Butler, Brown, Allen, Hawthorne, Richardson? Overall you're right tho. It will be interesting to see how Golson develops after his injury and how Grant and Boykin progress.

I agree with Blast. I think C Lake is one of the good guys. I like have him coach our D-Backs
