That's nice to see, but if you can run all over our D, why would teams pass?

The KC game was a nice step in the right direction; Let's hope it continues.

Did Troy P. come back with a haircut and we just don't know? I sure do miss him.

For once, run defense is a bigger concern than the secondary.

to be honest I rather stop the run, and force teams to pass but that's just me. if we can be something like top 5 in points, top 5 in sacks, top 10 in run D and top 10 in pass D by years end I will be happy

The pass defense has been a work in progress for a couple years. Golson was a serious set-back. I think Sutton has a lot of potential if he can stay out there. We need an outstanding safety in the next years draft, a real hammer. I think we will match up a lot better against NE

Id rather do both but being a top defense against the pass will go a lot further in getting past NE.

I think we proved we are capable of doing both. Now we need to do it consistently!

And I don't think run defense is going to be a reoccuring problem. they seemed to have found their groove

Hire PWP. Adding a real CB with the ability to play man is why . Could have been done years ago ,but the Team never thought playing man was a must . As soon as they got on board with that they got a player who changed the way we can play Defense.

Now we need 2 more guys who can play Safety. 1 needs to be a true force player and the other needs to be a true FS.

If we fix those spots the pass D will get even better and the kicker is so will the run Defense . I have been all about this Team targeting DB'S , we have tried but was always targeting the wrong type. The first correct target was Joe and now all of a sudden this D can play the pass.

Exactly why I hated on Ross so much. He was not capable of playing man, he can't guard me 1 on 1 with no help. The proof is in the pudding so to speak.

Meh. Other than Smith, what QB have they faced that would truly test a pass defense?

If this holds up after facing Stafford, Brady, and Watson, and the run D is respectable too then I'll be impressed.

In my opinion that is misleading. Sure they are better but when the offense is on the field so much. I mean when u throw 5 picks and 2 pick 6's. The other team doesnt have to throw much. I know that is just one game

Not a facade at all . Being able to play in the same zipcode does wonders for a pass Defense. No more pre snap this guy is wide open crap . Teams that can read a zone and can design the correct routes will eat a zone up . We now have the ability to play close enough to take away that quick read. As such we are also getting a lot more pressure now.

You have to make the QB hold the ball longer if you desire to get pressure .That will not happen 15 yards off the LOS .

The Run defense will come around. As long as the front seven stays healthy and will start to gel and shut down the run.
Look how well they held Hunt, and he is the leading rusher.

Good QB bad QB didnt matter as recently as last year, they all were putting up good numbers against the pass defense.

    It has definitely improved.

Except for against Chicago and Jacksonville when they couldn't stop the run.

Even against Jacksonville, they were doing well until the meltdown in the end. And those big runs came from Watts side. I wonder if he is getting tired from the rigors of the NFL and that is why James saw more playing time?

I am more concerned about that groin injury he had eariler in the season against Minnesota and if that is somehow still in play myself.

I know I know - it's still really early, but thanks to the Raiders (and officials), Steelers will quietly slip into #1 seed in AFC after they trounce the Bungles this Sunday :beg:
Here's hoping all the other teams get tired of the view of the lead dog in the dog sled team. I'm liking their 3-1 road record so far regardless of who they've played. :thumbs up:
