Well, for what it's worth I consider you neither. And I consider myself neither as well. I just don't understand why it is that when you criticize some aspect of the team that you're labeled as negative by some. I've criticized everything from the coaching for allowing the team to come out flat and play down to the competition and I've criticized the players for for sub-standard performance, mental errors, etc. But when I do criticize I always try to cite the reason for my criticism and lay out my case. I don't just arbitrarily do it just to be negative. Since when does that make you less than a fan? I don't mind anyone that disagrees with my assessment of the team, coaching staff or whatever but at least let me know why without resorting to belittling and name calling. Hope that's not too much to ask.

The Steeler way is the BEST way, no doubt about that. We don't need to change who we are even when we are going through a transition like we seem to be going through now. However, one of the reasons we have won six Super Bowls is because we've never gotten satisfied with where we were and I don't think Rooney, Tomlin, Colbert or the players are satisfied with last years' performance and with our preseason performance so far. I'm sure there is a lot of criticizing going on internally about our sub-par play, mental errors, penalties, special teams, intensity, etc. We aren't satisfied as fans and I guarantee you the coaches and players aren't satisfied with where we are. Satisfaction is the breeding ground for failure.

Pouncey hasn't looked great this preseason maybe he's still getting used to the new blocking scheme. Hope he gets it figured out soon.

You're a gentleman, Jack. The lack of preseason wins has created a surge in negativity, and I suspect your criticism has perhaps lumped you in with some who aren't as gentlemanly as yourself. I could be wrong of course.

Winning cures everything...well, almost everything. :smiley1:

PS- Sure, Pouncey had some rough moments this preseason. Would you say he's a bust? Just curious.

    Yes...

Pouncey will have a bust in the HOF one day. ;)

Of course I don't consider Pouncey a bust, but you described it well when you said he's had some rough moments in the preseason. I don't know if he's still adapting to the z-blocking scheme but he'll get it figured out, I'm sure. If ever any lineman was made for that scheme Pouncey was being the athletic center that he is. I think it just may take the line a little more time to gel.

just messin with you jack trying to keep it light.

of course nobody is satisfied with last year, and of course they are not going to change how the team is run because of it.

the players and coaches are working to get better and this preseason is not an indicator of how the whole season will go either. if they don't improve then it's time to start to wonder why.

for now i'm writing it off as a lot of meshing left to do throughout the season. new coaches, meshing with new systems meshing with new players, all not an easy thing to unlearn and relearn all in a matter of 5 weeks.

we didn't build the team that went to two super bowls in that amount of time and those coaches and most of the players had been around each other for awhile.

Why do you think Pouncey looked really good in the very 1st preseason game, yet had struggles in both the 2nd and 3rd games?

Jack, that was negative of you to call Beard out like that! On the other hand, if you post two negative comments in a row doesn't that equall out and become positive? I was never good at the mathemitician stuff!

Starters will see little play time against Panthers. Pouncey being one of them.

Let's put it this way ... there was no "Dog House Poop" for him in game one, but there certainly was after games #2 and #3. See there was a reason for doing that thread afterall. LOL :lolol:

Like the old saying goes, JACK OF ALL TRADES,MASTER OF NONE. Other than DD there really are no impressive people on this line of scrimmage. May God help us.
    May god help Ben R.
