Does the weather change their approach to game plan?

So the weather seems, at this point, 100% chance of rain with temperatures falling throughout the game. I'm wondering if they will be looking at this and making some adjustments based on that. If it's raining hard this will definitely affect our passing offense to some degree. I think if we came out and really ran the ball I think that could catch them off guard which can then open up short and intermediate passes. I'm sure Toussiant and Todman will be eager to perform and be running hard.

I don't think 350 yards of passing and 40 points is going to win this one. I foresee a low scoring muddy slugfest. My game plan would be to concentrate on dominating the line, establish the run, win time of possession, toss in a pass here and there in what appears likely to be sloppy conditions.

Tomlin don't live in his fears, he'll have his umbrella near and as to the players they are the Pittsburgh Steelers which are immune to the rain and cold. No adjustments needed!

Slippery will be a factor but not mud, they play on turf at Paul Brown Stadium.

I think they do most of their game planning inside so the weather shouldn't be a factor. ;)

I do think you tweak the game plan .. As I stated in the other thread getting your bigger players the ball is one way .... Another is more straight line routes ... Another is faking above the hips and not below ... More rub routes or picks whatever you wish to call them .. Less timing routes as they can be very dangerous if the WR slips coming out of a break ... More lob balls to opens spots ...

The way the route tree is designed and how you run it..Try to create routes that get the WR and the DB equal with open space in front of the WR ..This is a big deal in the rain ,,what it means is use the routes to create a 1 on 1 route with no help coming that way ....It means Ben needs to find the 1 on 1 coverage and not force into double coverage look for more College Open types of passes...Trying to fit a tight ball into tight windows with double coverage is begging for a mistake...

I would think it would affect the warm weather, southern college QB with only 3 pro starts more.

As the temperature falls, so do the Bengals.

With rain in the schedule, I expect Ben to only throw it 54 times.

We may need a mudder. Think the bus can get the engine revving for one last hurrah?

I think it does, must have a running game. If #7 throws more than 40 a game
our winning pct drops substancially. I hope our OL is up to the challenge?

I agree it will affect him somewhat as well but since we are a mostly "passing" offense I believe it will affect us more. We all question Tomlin's game planning at times so I'm wondering if they are even thinking of changing it up due to the weather. It will be interesting to see for sure.

Good thing is it should take the fans and crowd noise out of the game

A couple of Steeler touchdowns can help as well.

Receivers have the advantage on a wet field, AB, MB and Wheaton should have a good game, on the other side AJ green might be dangerous in this game, although in the denver game he dropped 3 passes since they played him in tight man coverage, we better consider that as well...

I have insider information* that Tomlin's game plan for Green is to isolate Antwon Blake on him, with clear instructions to give Green a large cushion to ensure the Bengals can get first downs, but also to bite on all double moves in case the Bengals want to go deep.

*I watched all the Steelers games this year.

Sounds like it is going to down pour early in the game and then taper off.

If the Steelers win the coin toss they be smart to defer to give them an extra opportunity on offense after halftime.

    Maybe not:

In a season dominated by Peyton Manning's destruction of the NFL's touchdown record book, you might have missed the 2014 season Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback BenRoethlisberger is putting together. Last week, he threw for 522 yards and six TDs in a wild game against the Indianapolis Colts. It was his single-best day as an NFL QB.

So what does he do for an encore? How about more of the same? Yesterday, Big Ben threw for 340 yards and six more TDs against the Baltimore Ravens. And in throwing six touchdowns on Sunday Roethlisberger became the first QB in NFL history to throw six touchdowns in back-to-back games. The only people who have come closer were Oakland's Tom Flores in 1963 and Tom Brady in 2007, both of whom threw 11 TDs in a two-game span.

It better not. If we come out trying to pound the rock in between the tackles we are going to lose. We have an elite QB, the best WR corps in the league (best WR in the league too) and a pretty solid pass blocking OL. No reason to let the rain scare us out of our game.

We need Ben to spread the ball around and keep the chains moving. If we can do this and at least break even or win the turnover battle, then we should win the game.

Looks like the rains going to hold off till 10 PM so whoever's down in this game will have to try to come back in a rainstorm late in the third quarter with fourth

Great game Toussant and Todman we needed exactly that. If no running game,
Bengals just tee off and take our 200 million qb of the field.
