We may need to rename that new roller coaster at Kennywood.

2008 was the last year where we had a truly good, physical defence. We had some good defences on paper over the years, but anyone who watched the games could see right through those rankings that were based on stupid stats.

I remember when the NFL used to let you be physical....that was a whole different league than what it is now

I do but the league fined them out if it. It is pretty much Arena football now.

The league implemented rules that specifically took it out of the game. You will not be able to convince me that those early Raven's vs Steeler's games were not a direct result on how the game is being called today.

Most teams play that sickening dink n dunk short passing game and getting to the QB is almost impossible. And if you blow up a guy running a crossing route you get flagged. Sure the old days were barbaric but they got paid well and if getting brain damage or being hobbled then so be it.

ARE WE NOT ENTERTAINED the answer is now NO

One of the issues on Sunday night though was their desire to be physically punishing on defense. The long completion to Gordon in the middle of the field and then Edmunds attempt to lay the hit on him after the catch is one example. I understand the thinking behind it but if he is half a step faster he gets his hand in on the catch and breaks it up

It's not smart football. The glaring example was last season when Davis blew up Haden to prevent the int and facilitate the TD vs the Chargers.

He almost did a face palm.

Davis should have been flagged for the hit.

You are not supposed to be physical with your own man...Lol. You blow the receiver up. Hard hitting is always good football. It sends a message and nothing fires up your team mates like a solid clean hit, it's infectious.
