Does anyone really think this OL is one of the best in the NFL?

i don't. And I can't believe losing Munch explains the decline.

Losing Munch would make sense if we had several new players, but these are the same guys he coached the last few years.
The real problem is the OC.

Pass blocking is normally very good.

The run blocking not so much.

The entire offense is going to have issues if teams don't fear what the QB can do. Until Mason plays better on a consistent basis the offense will see more of the same.

Maybe the real problem is the players and their belief that they are sooooo much better than the schmucks on the opposite DL. We're great, so fall down in our presence.

I could buy that , but I’d say they’d been humbled up after the beat down by the Patriots.

And the humbling led to what? An improved run game vs Sea and SF? If this OL is so good shouldn't they show it vs decent teams?

If ice skating was part of the criteria,I’d say they’re among the best. Guys we’re getting pushed straight back today.

So....was going to ask. Is our line this bad?, San Fran D this good? Running backs? Bad play calling? Bad timing? What's the deal? Our longest run today was 10 yards. NOt bad but the rest sucked.

I agree they’ve playing like Ass. They don’t look good at all. I’m just not convinced that it’s solely because Munch is gone.

Maybe Munch is good at coaching them up during the game. Like noticing tendencies, making adjustments, ect.

If Conner does not fumble the ball away late and we move the ball down the field and use up the time or score, we win and there are no discussions about what`s wrong.

Soft. No swagger. Partly on them, and partly on soft play calling not setting them up to play mean. On Conner's fumble he didn't stand a chance in that formation when the only thing the 9-r's new they had to do was stop the run. Either throw it, or line up with the extra tackle and bleed the clock.

And BTW, D-line is playing soft as well.

I agree with you on this. Same as a great pass rush masking a bad secondary.

FWIW Charlie batch said he doesn't like them trying to run the ball out of the shotgun formation.

I don't like it either. I thought with Mason in there we'd see less shotgun but nope.

I thought so too but I’m thinking not having Nix and then losing McDonald early took away some of our power run blocking options. Grimble was getting abused some. They tried to spread them and running but the OL couldn’t find a rhythm at run or pass blocking.

Pouncey has slowed a bit, I think all the moving MF to guard and back to RT in the preseason messed with his head. AV is being exposed on speed rush guys but let's be real no matter who was out there they have always had problems when a team schemes to attack.

I am going to say this about them they need to get on board with Rudolph. Pouncey saying this is still Ben's team is bs. I know you are looking out for your buddy but I watched these same 5 guys give Ben a clean pocket most of week 1 can't tell me that their effort changes in two weeks. Doing your best doesn't mean you are betraying Ben, it means he is hurt and you do your best to make sure when he is back this team can kick butt.

Also Fichtner is killing his own coaching career. You can't lose talent like Bell and Brown and operate as if you can just plug guys in and think their talent level is the same. Scheme for the players you have. If Bosa was handing AV his lunch, then plug Samuels in and let Bosa charge upfield and have Samuels run a delay in the gap he leaves open. If no one is getting open run picks and drags, bunch formations that create the space you need.

Losing munch was a major blow. If MT isn't gonna be the in your face coach then he need to get better assistants

Would deserve a explanation. When did Pouncey say that? After the game?
