Only thought I have is we have seen what Landry brings and we have seen very little of Dobbs. Therefore, Dobbs is the better QB. That’s how it works. :smiley1:

I don't even want to think of the post Roethlisberger era. I probably won't even survive very long if it's anything like the post Bradshaw era was.

Nahh I disagree with ESPN and the poll actually sides with what I believe to happen. Bens replacement will be from the draft

Landry can handle the job just fine, playin in one game a year isn't showing what he's made of.

Landry will never be anything more than a back up in the NFL. If he is any teams starter he will not be very successful even with the best protection.

    Two spots

    They take a punter

With the first pick, Cleveland took a quarterback, again

Nope. They passed on the best QB in the draft - again. That’s what their baseball analytics told them to do.

I have no faith in LJ and I know/seen very little on Dobbs. The thing I like about Dobbs is his mobility and we know how much that will come into play when you don't have a big QB like Ben who will keep the play going cause you can't bring him down. Maybe we get lucky and Dobbs shows flashes of Wilson/Watson like skills, this is all if Ben steps down and the Steelers plan to go with him.

Well, what if... Washington lets Cousins go?

    Washington Redskin Article...
Cousins has posted total QBRs of 77 or higher in three of the five losses (QBR measures the impact on a game much more than passer rating). The average QBR in a win by quarterbacks this season is 65.4.

So for those saying Cousins alone can't carry the Redskins, you're absolutely right. Most QBs can't.
That's not to say you spend whatever it takes to keep a guy if you don't love him. So if the Redskins don't love Cousins? Simple: Don't pay him in the $25-$30 million range. Find another solution and move forward. They exist.

Do the Steelers pay him if Ben retires in Feb?

45... GenX. Old to some, young to others. My first memories of the Steelers was '79 season and '80 Super Bowl vs. Rams. Been a fan ever since.

I cant tell anything about Dobbs based on preseason games playing against 2s and 3s, when he plays in regular season games then you can assess his potential, right now I would expect him to play like Brett Hundley a similar type QB who is pretty bad after 5 games he's 1-4 with 2 TD and 7 picks......

If I'm reading the article right, they're suggesting that Dobbs takes over in 2020 after Ben retires in 2018; so DObbs gets a few more years under his belt and Landry holds the fort in the meantime.

It's not an unimaginable scenario, if Dobbs turns out good in a few years. As of now, too difficult to tell. We know Jones is a decent back up (compared to the realistic alternatives), which is what he was effectively drafted to be. We don't really know what Dobbs can do, and much will depend on how he improves next year.

But it's probably equally as likely that Dobbs doesn't improve to starter calibre, and we find someone in the draft to subject to immediate and constant comparisons to Ben and Terry B.

Depending on the $$ and years I am all in on Cousins if Ben hangs them up after the season. I think we are a team that has built a very good defense and of course has a ton of weapon on offense. We have turn this team from over the hill to a young power house. By adding an established QB like Cousins would be plug and play imo. Let's say we could do a 4 year 115-120 mil range I am fine with that.

Is Brett Hundley a rocket scientist too? At least 50% of QB success is determined above the neck. Dobbs is very smart and emotionally mature for a young NFL QB (I have a friend who interacted with him when he interned at Pratt & Whitney who spoke very highly of him). He and Hundley are both mobile QBs who needed work on accuracy coming out of school, but I don’t think they’re exactly similar.

I wouldn’t go 100% all in on Dobbs yet based on what we as fans have seen, but I have way more optimism over him than Hundley.

If we sign Cousins I would be amazed.

But then, I'm amazed any time we sign a Free Agent.

Yeah and Fitzpatrick is a Harvard graduate too, problem is they dont have any football classes that soaks in above the neck, according to you since Ben left school his junior year he should have been a bust.....
