Do you want Russell Wilson to return next season as the Steelers starting QB?

If there is one thing the Steelers should absolutely do this offseason is not let Weidl get away. I think they should even give him the GM job to keep him here but of course we know the Steelers would never do that but they should and I say that being a Khan fan. I think Weidl would be a top GM in the league.

They are on the inside, so I'd tip the hat to them knowing Weidel's potential. I am not opposed to him stepping up to the plate.
I cover the GM's as a blanket because they have failed. The Cap is unbalanced, we've got head case players, etc.....
At the same time, if Weidel is showing promise, then don't be afraid to move him up.
If they like Omar, move him somewhere else.. I am not sold.

No!!!, Sign JF to a 2-3 years contract, and see what he can do given a full year playing. Either we will win or we will lose and have higher draft picks
    .
Sounds like a win win situation to me

    Absolutely not. He's washed.

    Fire Tomlin. Clean house.

    Will it happen? No.

When you paint yourself into a corner, there's not many options.
Fields (I just threw up a little, in my mouth) might be the only option.

Russ is old and so is Tomlin…they both must go! Steelers need a fresh start!

I'd rather just play Fields and see what happens, let Wilson go, he's not the answer, he's washed. I'd rather go into '25 with a young guy who can at least run and could still have potential with better coaching (better coaching? lol) - rather than a 36 year old who is only getting worse.

I'm at the point now, where I'm tanking for Tomlin's exit and a QB.

There is no path to the promised land that goes through Mike Tomlin and this set up, and there's no path to the promised land without a frnachise QB.

How do we get rid of one and acquire the other?

They're the only questions in my mind.

I remember hearing different guys talk on some podcasts (with inside info, lol), that the Steelers felt they had there man for 25 and beyond on the roster. they were speaking of Fields. After Russ had that good start the talk shifted, the 'team' (again insiders) felt good about giving Russ an extension. Now you and I both know all the talk is just BS until something happens. I honestly do not care if Russ leads this team to a PO win, the last couple of weeks have shown the weakness in not only his game, but the entire O. The entire receiving group is likely going to have to be replaced (are we going to trust Pickens with a 30 million a year contract). So keep Russ, fine, but be prepared to put the money around him with playmakers,or, make a play for Fields, somehow convince him and his agent that the future could be his, but we need a couple year deal like GB gave Love (instead of his 5th year option). I doubt Fields gets huge offers, but the decision is still up to him. Bottom line, there is none to draft, we are not in a position to trade up and the FA market sucks. So the options are very limited.

Mason Rudolph was terrible this season for the Titans. After his 3 interceptions last week the Titans had no choice but to name Will Levis as the starter today. They were planning to bench Levis for the remainder of the year but Rudolph's poor play forced Levis back into the starting lineup.

We were 4-2 under Fields and we will finish 6-6 with Russell Wilson at QB. Bring back Fields and send Russell packing. Fields is 10 years younger and still has some upside, Wilson will just continue to get worse as he nears the end of his career.

My problem with Fields is he probably, at best, maintains the status quo that people hate. We'll finish 9-8, maybe make the playoffs and lose quickly.

Not good enough to win anything, too good to get a draft pick that could really help the team. I think he's pretty much maxed out at this point.

    But, options are extremely limited.

Fields isn't the answer. The guy can't throw with any degree of accuracy that's required in the NFL.

Until we find a franchise QB we're also rans.

Here's the list of AFC playoff (pending today's results) QBs.

    Mahomes
    Allen
    Jackson
    Stroud
    Herbert
    (Tua/Nix/Burrow)

Is there any of those you wouldn't trade straight up for Wilson or Fields in a heartbeat?

That's the situation we're in. It's a QB league and we don't have one.

What I think is the best for the Steelers for next year

Change out the head coach: But that will never happen under Rooney

Next best thing: Change out our OC Smith, down by 12 points late in the 3rd qtr and your running two straight runs, one up the middle and the famous toss sweep that never works. It is becoming ugly with Patterson on a toss sweep and in even in the game. It took 18 weeks to target Muth 10 times. Why run on 1st down almost every time, you think the other teams don't know this. Why not get our left tackle Moore some help when he is getting beat so bad. Not sure if Tomlin is holding our offense to be so conservative but we know Rooney won't move with Tomlin so our only alternative is get rid of Smith and at least tell Tomlin to stay out of the offensive game plan.

Next best thing: Change out our offensive line coach, been too long seeing the same thing.

Next best thing: Bring Lebeau back as a defensive consultant to re-teach how to blitz and get Fitzpatrick back in the game and not 20 yards deep. Teams will throw all day long when the saftie is out of the picture.

Next best thing: Lett Patterson go and find someone who can return kicks.

Next best thing: If Wilson is not getting it done, go back to our running QB for the year and see where we are at the end of year. Consider drafting a QB or trading to get your QB.

Depends on what other options there are. I don't think Fields is it. The coaches see him in practice all week and, apparently, they don't think he's the answer either. What happened yesterday is not all on Russ. You've got crappy O line play, George "butterfingers" Pickens, bad play calling, whoever calls that G**D***ed toss to Harris that never works!

He is if there are no options. Would you really let him go in favor of the next Tim Tebow or Johnny Manziel?

Yes. You must draft a QB either this year or next.

The miss on Pickett looms large.

But nothing will change until Popcorn um Tomlin is gone.

I wonder what JJ McCarthy's availability is if the Vikings re-sign Darnold.

A cheap insurance policy when Darnold reverts back to his usual turnover machine.

He can go I have seen enough, I don't care if we have to take a step back in the next couple of seasons if we can replace MT and find a long term QB. I don't want him back, full stop.

The first would be easy. The second? It's a gamble. I don't believe for a second that you would be fine taking a step back.

    I absolutely would.

What are we taking a step back from exactly? A yearly late season collapse?
