Do We Overhype our Prospects/Draft Picks?

Two Kordell references in back to back threads! Agree he was mishandled too, but on a much much larger scale. Summers' mishandling was all within like 2 months. And he was a 5th round rookie fullback that played one game.

 

Kordell's spirit will forever haunt us. And so it should.

Back on to the FB issue... this was probably the main reason that I was excited about Barron Batch last camp - he was the only RB who consistently blocked well (based on Vrabinec's observations, of course, not first hand). You're absolutely right that inserting someone with all the running and catching skills and the size and frame into the FB position, and then hope they learn the blocking technique. If you want a proper FB, you need someone who can lead block and then, hopefully, run and catch as well.

 

until we get someone in here to coach a FB in the fine art of playing the position this is what we will get. there are not alot of true FB's left out there. we have a TE coach. why not have a guy like krieder or lester or john L. be hired to coach the position. so they hire one more coach, big deal. he can help out at other positions too. maybe help teach the H-back types or ST's. wouldn't it only help this delema we have been suffering through for many a year? there is more to it then just running toward the hole and hitting the first thing you see.

 

I'm not sure today's fans are enlightened enough to know they should feel haunted for being such retards.
