Especially if it was a 4th down and the other team was throwing from the 35 yard line
    right ?

Obviously we disagree, and that's okay. For the team, one game at a time. For the fans, I have no problem looking ahead, predicting who will win what game, and what that potential result might have on the team I follow.

Sports line gives the steelers a 38% chance of making the playoffs, right now the steelers are ranked 8th in seeding standings, they have to win out and win this division to be guaranteed to get in, better chance with division title than getting the 6 seed.....

With the playoffs hanging in the balance why would they consider the buff game expendable? They better be in win out mode because losing a game now means they just put more pressure on them selves to have 3 must win games, they need to win this game as badly as they need to win the next 3 games after this one....

Wildcard nothin... It's Christmas season and I'm still hoping for a first round bye! All it will take is KC and Oakland both losing 2 of their next 3 games, and Denver losing 1 (and the Steelers running the table of course). That's tougher to imagine for KC at this point (home against Tenn, Denver, road to San Diego -- oh great, another week 17 KC/SD matchup - hope Succop is playing for the Chiefs THIS time). Oakland - road SD/Denver, home Indy.

Yeah, it seems like a longshot, but Christmas is the season of miracles, and as long as it's possible, there's something to root for! Of course, as others have pointed out, the next best thing would be clinching the division heading into week 17 so we get a mock-bye against the Browns, yet still send them to an 0-16 record....

It all starts with a glorious win at Buffalo!!!!!

    i agree
i hope they have that win out mentality
    but
    i'm
just saying if we lose this week and even if ravens win
we still win the division by winning the last 3
so it's not the end of the season this weekend with a loss

    i hope so too
    but

we can be at home if we lose to the browns if we win the next 3 the Browns game is not a lock this browns game can't be a bye week unless ravens lose to Pats. IF

the team has a tough road because every team wants to beat the Steelers every team

Agreed, a loss doesn't end the season.... I haven't done the math or read the 3,000 tiebreaking rules, but I'm reasonably certain if we lost to Buffalo and the Ravens beat New England, and then we win out (including Baltimore) and finished at a 10-6 tie with Baltimore, we would lose the division tiebreaker due to conference record. We'd need Baltimore to lose to either Philly or Cincy as well. Not impossible either, but it would be MUCH better if we do no worse than mirroring whatever Baltimore does until week 16.....I think

If the second seed is indeed a possibility, I'd love to see it. Basically, need Denver to lose to Titans and beat chiefs and raiders. Then, hope the chargers can win a meaningless game for them.

Only if the Ravens lose another game in addition to our game. They get the tiebreaker if they win out other than our game.

Best scenario is to have Rats lose to Pats, beat them on Christmas and then treat Browns game as a bye/tune up for the playoffs

As I mentioned someplace earlier- the Broncos final schedule is pretty difficult, and I can see them going 9-7. Buffalo, should they run the table and go 10-6- which is plausible should they win today- still has a shot.
