Too many WRs in FA this year with similar enough production to DJ. I don’t know what value he would have in trade.

hey brain deads - GO WATCH the JAX game alone

some of you are just SO DULL. ignorant are you, some, blind some too.

He alligator armed the first pass, first PLAY of the game - you BLAME your boy Kenny or your boy DJ - one of them SUCKED it. I blame Kenny, but many blamed DJ. Can go either way. BUT - it HIT BOTH HANDS!
he dropped the third pass TOO of that game, ALONE.

3 plays, DJ dropped 2 balls.

You all are brain dead. That was in :57 seconds.

    clueless , some of you.

His number are among the league low every year but that one season. I called it then, fans will only ever see that season as who he is no matter how few passes he drops. Every drop “omg he’s dropped 50 balls this season!” Same with running backwards, you’d think he runs backwards 25 times a game reading a game day thread.

Fans is short for fanatics for a reason.

You are using that word very loosely considering who you are responding to

What does being a mod have to do with it?

You’re making up your own facts or at least your own definition of what a drop is.

Could there actually be a discrepancy between what a fan considers a drop and what a statistician does?

maybe - when a ball hits both hands, and you drop it, I call it a drop. (the first play vs. Jax, what did you see?) Who knows how PFF and other agencies rate it. All I am saying is to watch the games. Plenty of balls that DJ dropped last year - well, more than 2 - let me at least state that fact.

also plenty of balls that Kenny flat out sucked in NOT getting to him.

He would still be among the fewest drops because you would have to apply your definition across the board.

The fact is he doesn’t drop an exceptional amount of balls. It’s fan perception.

I've seen it pointed out before that it's not necessarily the number of drops but the timing of them. A drop on first down isn't as damaging as one on third down that would have been for a first.

I mean, you’d have to chart that to see how accurate that even is but let’s say he had 7 drops on the season, thats not a lot of drops no matter when they take place. Just seems like piling on because a lot of fans don’t like him.

Honestly I really don’t care if he didn’t drop a single pass. Lets trade him now when we can get some value for him because it is obvious he doesn’t want to be here. Like Tomlin said I don’t want Hostages. He may go somewhere else and be fantastic but he hasn’t reached that point yet and you can blame the QB’s, the OC or whatever.... the fact is he still hasn’t produced to the level that dictates his Prima Donna attitude. I didn’t like AB for all of his stuff but he truly produced and not only that he didn’t let it effect his play on the field. In addition to top it all off he really doesn’t fit Arthur Smiths offense. We need a Hines Ward/Deebo Samuel type. Be honest with your self you really see DJ blocking down field or running routes with maximum effort play after play knowing he may get four or five targets a game in his contract year? Its more than just his dislike for KP. I don’t think he will be happy in this offense. Finally what about DJ evokes him meeting the standard the we try to instill in Pittsburgh with hard nosed play and maximum effort. GP doesn’t either but at least he has higher production and freak talent. DJ is a good receiver that runs good routes. Those guys can be had elsewhere nd if you get one who isn’t quite as good at running routes but does all the other things better and is a team player then I am all for trading DJ.

The bottom line is if you have to many DJ guys on your team that attitude starts to permeate into other players. I saw it last year with Friermuth at the beginning of the season. His blocking was below par. I get it alot of these guys were disenfranchised with the OC and KP. When they let go of Canada it was evident that somebody talked to Friermuth because his effort increased and he started blocking alot better. I am sure it wasn’t just Canada leaving but there were obvious discussions in the locker room late in the year after the losing streak that lit a fire under guys. With that being said you have guys in San Francisco who come out on fire in the first game of the year. That team has talent but outside of their all pro LT can you name another OL on the team? Outside of their 2 WR or top two RB can you name other weapons? I would say Frieermuth isn’t that far behind Kittle on the recieving part. He needs the want to attitude on the blocking part. From a receiver perspective GP is better than both of SF top two WR’s. They beat us at RB but we are pretty solid at RB as well. My point is that team is coached well, they block phenomenally all of them do wr’s, te’s, etc. Nothing good happens for the Receivers or TE until that team gets ground game going. I think Arthur Smith will stress the importance of the ground game and I think he will hold the TE’s and WR’s way more accountable on blocking down field as they do in SF.

My question to you is if your SF and you lose a Deebo Samuel or Brandon Ayuik is Dionte Johnson the first Receiver you think of to replace one of those guys? Do you honestly think he is a fit for our offense and system?
