Maybe? Idk... I guess if he was available in the draft in the 5th or later, he'd be BPA right? I doubt we do, but it would be an interesting idea.

Do you know how much it would be in dead money if we traded a late rounder for him, then cut him? That has to be a factor in the discussion. His cap charge is probably fairly high if he makes the squad too.

Generally if a player is traded, the team trading him that gave him X amount of guaranteed money (that they have technically already paid him) still takes the cap hit. The team getting the player just has to pay whatever his base salary is...which means if he's cut then no dead money.

If it was for something like a 5th or later i might consider it. Not sure how much his salary/cap hit would be though...being such a high draft pick and all. Also the biggest issue I see...is he has been suspended twice already (according to that article)...not sure what for...but that part there would worry me the most.

his fifth year option is 11 milion but i think if is traded the team that will acquire him would rework his contract

    7/20/2013: Signed a four-year, $20.572 million contract. The deal is fully guaranteed, including a $13.341 million signing bonus. 2015: $585,000 (+ $1.69 million roster bonus), 2016: $675,000 (+ $2.535 million roster bonus), 2017: Club Option, 2018: Free Agent

So essentially if we traded for him and he makes the squad, we'd be on the hook for about 2.3mil in '15, and 3.2 in '16. Not a bad cap hit if he turns out to be at least a good situational rusher in rotation... Won't make those roster bonuses if he's cut, so that's nice too. Who knows, might be worth a try. I doubt we even consider it tho.

side note: anyone remember Gruden's face when Jordan was picked 3rd overall? Haha it was priceless. Dion Jordan? Really? Lol

I'm not sure that we'd even be on the hook for the 2015 roster bonus. Those are usually paid out near the start of the league year in March. The rumors are out there that he might be available, but the numbers just don't make sense for Miami IMO unless they REALLY want him gone or if they can get real value for him. Too much dead money.

However, when I searched for news on Dion Jordan I also found that there are rumors circuiting about Philly's 2014 1st rounder Marcus Smith being available for trade. I wonder if we'll see a Smith for Jordan swap.

Anyway, as for us - I don't think Id grab Jordan for anything close to what Miami would want. A 5th? Sure, but I don't see that happening.
