Liked what little I saw of Cain. Hopefully his role expands from here and what happened to Whyte inn the second half?

It was his first NFL game afaik, it would be a big ask for him to maintain what he was doing for the full game. Looks very promising though.

I’d use him more certainly over guys like Holton and Tevin Jones. He has some pedigree and should he given more of an opportunity for sure.

I think he played a few games for Indy but yeah I understand he needs to pick up our “ system “. I want to see more...

Damn the names are changing every week. I'm concerned by week 15 we will be getting guys who got cut and now work at a gas station.

I was trying to listen to the game on the radio and had no clue what was going on. I didn’t know if the names being called were on our team or theirs.

No that’s Cain that was with Indy. Whyte was a 7th round pick by the Bears this year but he never played a snap for them. I think we saw flashes of what he can do today but MT is probably wise not to trust somebody with so little experience for a full game. Snell got the job done in any case.

Holton is absolutely terrible. Hardly gets open. When he does, he drops the ball. He has the speed to cover on ST's, but he can't tackle. The JUGS machines are more useful for the Steelers than he is. If JuJu is healthy next week, then Holton is the sixth WR AFAIC.

It was just one play, but it was nice to see a receiver other than the top three make a tough catch down the field. Cain did play a little for the Colts early in the season. Hopefully, he can be a viable No. 4 once Smith-Schuster returns. I doubt he will be more.

Just to clarify when I said it was his first NFL game I was referring to Whyte, not Cain. Cain has played some snaps and Indy were keen to keep him on their PS by all accounts

Can anyone tell me why we don't even try a play to our heralded tight ends?

Indys message boards are in an uproar..You know the routine * ( insert Tuzar Skipper here ) Loved him, lit it up in preseason , and he was going to be the next Rice...Just like Tuzar was going to be the next LT...

Only thing is, Our WR's suck so bad that...He ight actually be better than a few of them

Not sure what RF is teaching but his progressions seem to be primary read, second and third receiver read, rb check down. It's like TE is fifth or sixth on the reads and typically by the time MR or DH see the TE they are covered. Absolutely no plays designed to get the ball out quick to these guys.

Yeah, I guess it makes sense that if you have 2nd and 3rd string QB's and a limited running game, there would be no reason to plan for quick passes! Fuchtner is moronic! And Tomlin doesn't do **** to help him out of his own way!

It also seems taht MacDonald is only running short routes. Whether he's staying into block a lot I don't know (we've played some fairly aggressive D's last few weeks). But we don't seem to be running the TE on seam routes anywhere near what we used to. Crazy.

I would rather have Deon Cain at this point than Johnny Holton seeing ANY action. Keep Holton as the Special Teams ace. That is Holton's primary duty anyway.

Deon Cain has far superior pedigree than Johnny ever did when coming out of college. That said, bouncing around from one team to another is a bit concerning. However, he did showcase some big play capability against Cincy. Should he do that again against Cleveland, he is worth keeping around for the remainder of the season.

The pedigree is there, traits the same. All he needs is more reps in a new offense. Here is hoping that we can obtain a much better understanding of Cain not just against Cleveland but moving forward.

They are part of the porous blocking at the moment, no time to run a route.

Cain has already done more in the passing game than Holton has all year. He should get Holton's offensive snaps. Maybe we stumbled onto someone who can actually help. I know it was one play (two if you include the PI) but man was it refreshing to see someone actually make a play on a deep ball.
