Did Mike Tomlin take Dan or Art Rooney seriously?

If it is all about situational playcalling and running the ball more effectively then Bruce Arians should be packing his bags right this instant. He is the absolute worst situational and effective run play caller in the entire NFL. It might actually be among college teams and High School Coordinators as well.

You are so right. I have been saying that for the better part of the 2nd half of the season. BA totally ignored Mr Rooney's wishes because he went right back to his pass happy attack. Example, Ben had another 4000 yard passing season with no better results, and we lost in the first round of the playoffs. That constitutes, BA not being re-signed. That recent article about Tomlin saying that he expects both BA and Lebeau to be back is horse manure! Mr. Rooney will have the final say so on that. IMHO, I don't think Ben will be able to save BA's butt this time. Ben might be able to tell Tomlin to tell the Rooney's that he wants BA back, but I don't think they will buy it.

I bet if the Rooney's knew that the better part of Steeler Nation hates BA's guts, they would get rid of him in a heart beat. They should realize that BA changes the philosophy of the organization from something that was so very sucessful for decades under the last two coaches before Tomlin.

BA wasn't on the hot seat, Ben talked him out of retirement. And do you really believe for one second that the Rooneys are going to base coaching decisions on emotional fans?

Edog...I am not a BA fan and I hope that he doesn't come back. In the same breath, I have always been a huge fan of Lebeau's, however, I'm not convinced it isn't time for him to hang up the whistle either. He has been a great coach and player and a big part of the success the Steelers have enjoyed over the years but I think the game might be evolving beyond him (just a personal thought and would love for him to prove me wrong). But what I really am addressing is the fact that so many announcers believe that BA should be mentioned as a head coach. I'm not sure what these guys see that I'm not. I just shake my head every time I hear it said.

To me the announcers making those comments are just discreetly slapping the Steelers in the face... haha you're too stupid to get rid of your OC, the rest of the league sees it why don't you...

Absolutely agree edog. If the Rooneys based their decisions on fan demands let's see.

    1. Noll never would have won a Super Bowl. He would have been gone after the first two seasons.

    2. Bradshaw would have never spent his career in Pittsburgh. There were a number of years that fans spent the off season ridiculing him.

    3. Cowher never would have lasted 15 seasons - and he certainly wouldn't have won a Super Bowl.

    4. They would be named LERNER - not ROONEY!
