Duce Staley did not have any carries in Super Bowl XL against Seattle. Did he have any playing time at all, even on special teams?

No. He did get to wear a uniform, as opposed to the gray sweats he usually wore on gameday.

I was so excited when they picked up Duce Staley. I believed that he would add greatly to our offense at the time. Even called a buddy of mine to discuss how much the offense would benefit from him being on the team. Turned out that I was completely wrong and he was nothing more than a sideline sweat suit model.

Well, if he could have stayed healthy, who knows? He was good when he played... It was just far too infrequent.

Unfortunately there's a boatload of guys who would have been really good barring being injury prone

The only playing time Deuce got was when he had his hands down in his sweat pants playing Pocket Pool!!:aikido:

You can thank Rodney Harrison's sucker punch for ending his career. He was quite good up until that game. I recall he had several 100 year games and was among the league leaders in rushing yards in the first half of the season. The silver lining was that it gave the Bus more playing time and allowed him to stack up like 7 consecutive 100 yard games.

I stand corrected. I just looked it up and he had 6 100 yard games in the last 8 he played in 2004.

Why play when you can look good on the sidelines in high end sweats.

In the post SB game film there's a clip of Cowher hugging everyone and when he got to "Stanley" he apologized for not getting him in the game and Stanley said it was all good. Also remember FWP was making his presence known and negated the use of Stanley in 2005. Stanley did rush for 125 yds against NE in 2004 during that amazing run winning back to back against undefeated NE and Eagles at the time. He must have got injured near the end of the NE game because he barely played if at all the rest of that season. Supposed to be first time a team beat two undefeated teams that late in the season back to back. Except for the ending, 2004 was such a magical season, one of the Steelers' best ever IMHO, 16-1 before the AFCCG. Oh well, 2005 finished better.

Duce played half of the 2004 season... and was among the league leaders in rushing until he got hurt vs. Patriots.

If we had Duce and the Bus healthy for the AFC championship game that year, things might have turned out differently.
