Needs to go back to the Jugs gun and catch and catch and catch. I used to think he was an AB clone,
not anymore not even close. This young man needs to work on his game.

That isn't new for Claypool. That was a concern coming out of Notre Dame. Until Washington's grab late, I don't think the Steelers made a contested catch all night.

That said, the entire receiving corps played poorly. In addition to all the drops, Smith-Schuster and Johnson each fumbled once. They just got lucky that both balls bounced right out of bounds.

Have not seen a record of the game but would assume Washington is not getting open. Man the one catch he had near the end he was not open at all. Ben got lucky.

Im surprised nobody is complaining about ebron. He had as many drops if not more. Hell I’m pretty sure through 11 games he has more drops than McDonald has in 3 seasons, but not a peep

Dionte, Ray Ray and Washington are all from the Tampa Florida area. I think the limited practice in a cold weather climate and then the game itself being frigid out there affected the receivers more than they would like to admit. Just my personal theory. All of them though need to secure the catch before trying to turn them up field. Claypool, Ebron and Dionte have all failed in that department numerous times but it is very correctable going forward.

I agree but this week was very odd for them and they probably didn't practice much outside.

That Washington one in the endzone was a lot tougher to catch, than the dropped passes by Claypool, Diontae, and Ebron.

I think Washington is from Texas.

That would have been a hell of a catch by Washington, who had to twist his body around to get his hands to the ball. That was not the case with the balls dropped by Johnson and Ebron. Regarding Claypool, weren't all of the balls he couldn't reel in contested?

It's Deon Cain, Johnson, and Ray Ray are all from the Tampa area, somebody posted it on here recently.

Yeah, DJ and Ebron seemed unreliable and maybe to a lesser extent Claypool. I wish there was a way to figure out who has the butter fingers.

When running the ball, Snell seemed up for the game but did not get used much from what I remember.

Too bad more throws didn`t go Washington`s way.

I`m going to try to forget this game.

Ebron had a nice one. It was early in the second quarter, about a 25 yard completion. I only remember because I remarked about it in the GDT.

I said before we signed him that he had limitations and dropping passes is one of them.
    The man doesn't block either.

I thought the same thing. They need to get James Washington in the game more. Dionte dropped 3 catchall passes. Of course Ebron had a couple drops also. Ben had 6 drops total which quite frankly sucks.

I think Washington deserves more play time

I'm sure he got an earful of Tomlin. Watch as he lights it up against Washington. A bit of humility goes a long way.

I do agree Washington needs to be used more. That catch in the crows game was amazing but he has had his share of drops as well.

Chase Claypool is going to be a star all but just a rook.

Concentration = make the catch first and i'm sure as mentioned above this will be drilled into the heads of our young crew. It's crazy that Juju is the vet of this group.

That may be part of why there is less talk about Ebron. Most of us already knew he had issues with dropped passes and he was never a good blocker. He is what he is. We have a little more hope that Johnson can be something more than what he is showing right now. He killed two drives with drops Sunday. The first one, I can see why he dropped it. It was a short pass on third-and-goal, but he was going to need to make a quick move to split two defenders to score. The second was inexcusable, a perfect pass that dropped right into his hands.

Ebron seems to move the chains more often than not. And yes... his drops are noticed. My biggest complaint with Ebron is that he never breaks a tackle.... goes down on first contact. Miller and McDonald usually would break one tackle before going down. Jesse James was like Ebron too... and it was frustrating.

Ebron is a classic big soft pass catching TE. I think he has been a nice addition but he doesn’t play physically and block. In this new spread quick release offense with Ben he is an important check down.
